Hi Valcat, I have treatment resistant depression. I haven’t done ECT but I did ketamine a couple years ago when I was really bad/thinking of suicide. It didn’t help. I did TMS. It was my second time. Other things snapped me out of suicidal thinking but never really from depression and I’ve developed anxiety the past couple years. I’m on medicine and it makes it bearable but barely. How about you?
Did the TMS help? I’m on meds but they don’t seem to be helping.
I did TMS twice. First time was all out of pocket. I got a glimpse of what its like to be normal. But my money ran out. I did the minimum 6 weeks but couldn’t pay for more. Then I was on medicine but several years ago nothing helped not even a little. Lots of different stress factors so I started getting suicidal thoughts. That was when I tried the ketamine.it didn’t help and was all out of pocket again. But this time my insurance did cover the TMS so I did it again. I guess it got rid of the suicidal thoughts. I got on different medicine for anxiety and one for depression and for a week I felt ok like happy. But then it went back to just blah all the time. But I have a lot of stress. My dr things my depression won’t go away until my situation changes but easier said than done. Not sure why I can do about my life to make it less stressful. If it’s covered by insurance it doesn’t hurt to try. It works for some people and maybe Ild be a lot worse if I had never done it.
I know previously my insurance didn’t cover it. I’ll see if that has changed. I might as well try it if I can.
Yes my insurance didn’t before but it did this last time so check your insurance
If you do it I would like to know how it works for you. The second time I think I did a little longer than first time. I don’t remember if I did or just needed it. Sometimes insurance will cover more and sometimes it won’t.
Hey , so sorry you are going through this . Have you ever tried Kratom ? I don't know if it's legal in your state it is in mine . But it's worked wonders for my depression. I'm still on a few meds but combined with this , I can actually get out of bed , enjoy playing with my child and actually just being able to function . I order mine from - kratomkrates.com and they are wonderful. If you have any questions feel free to ask me !
I have tried it and it did help me but then it became illegal in my state. Now I can only rarely get any.
How can I find out if it’s legal in my state or not?
Try this:

Thanks! Maybe I’ll try that.
Hi, I’m new here too. I also suffer from treatment resistant depression. About 10 months ago after trying half a dozen SSRIs, SNRIs and NDRIs my doctor prescribed Nortriptyline. It’s an old school antidepressant (tricyclic AD) that was mostly replaced with the various STI and such. It has definitely been working for me. I still struggle with lethargy but my mood has been much improved.
You’re definitely not alone. Depression is very common these days. It’s just finding what works. And you’ve accomplished so much already by trying those things. What were they like? I’m doing TMS. Have you heard of it? It sounds like something you’d be interested in.
Have u tried cannabis sativa? Its great for my anxiety, depression and sleep! I hate meds!
