Hi everyone! Brian here. I want to first welcome all the new members to the community! Sorry I haven't been around to say hi earlier but I was kinda hiding from the internet lol. So welcome aboard and I sincerely hope you are able to make good use of the site as I have.
Next up for me is another try to start the radiation treatment for my tumor on Wednesday. After the misfire last Thursday, I was afraid I would get frustrated and get depressed about it. Oddly enough, I just want it to happen faster lol. I didn't get frustrated or depressed, which is a first for me lol. If anything, I'm anxious to get things moving. Time waits for no one, or so the saying goes lol
I've also been noticing a lot of people talking about relationship problems lately. Never being in a long-term relationship myself, I don't feel I can contribute much in that area. What I will say is this: Before you can love someone else, you must first love yourself. After all, how can you give someone something if you don't have it for yourself to begin with? Also, take your time! Love, like a lot of things in life, doesn't just spring up overnight. It has to grow, be nurtured and allowed to blossom in it's own time. Lust can seem like love, but it is a very poor substitute. Finally, there's not a written rule that says you have to be in a relationship. Sometimes, being single isn't a bad thing. For me, I know what I want in a relationship. I also know what I don't want. I also want to take time to get to know the other person. I'm sorry, but you can't know a lot about the other person in 3 dates. I want a friend I can trust before I want a lover. Call me fussy, but hey, I'm not some schmo you meet in a bar lol
For those who are just depressed with life and think that the mental pain will never end, well let me tell you, it will get better! It may not seem like it now, but it will. As with all things in life, we have peaks and valleys in our emotional states. Sometimes we're up. Other times we're down. The trick is to stay focused on getting back to the high times. When we're down, we have to fight a little more to get back to an even keel. Believe it or not, you can do it! If you really want something in life, you have fight to get it. No, not physical fighting lol. It takes determination, perseverance, and fortitude. Not everything can be accomplished easily. Plus, you're not alone in this fight! You have all of us here backing you up!
So what are you waiting for? Tell the depression to bother someone else! You can beat it!
Your friend,
Brian
