What to do when.......

Hey all, Brian here! I'm been skimming through the posts and there seems to be a lot of people who could use a friendly ear. So, let me ask everyone here a question..

What would you do if you were in a certain situation? You can be as general or as specific as you like. Maybe someone will read what you said and reach out. Let's help someone in need :)

Your pal,

Brian

When any of the past tremors begin to shake me, I turn to doing something I like and that works :)

Hey my friend....good hearted as always you are....

I have to say...since even when you first came here there were not nearly as many people on this site as there are now....it's hard to read the same basic four or five issues every single post every day and not wonder what could be done for so many....I have to say, the best thing for most is to just keep writing...even that is cathartic and for me it helps. We develop friendships here over time, where as in the real world, many of us would not. We just can't hear everyone, and whatever we do is good enough.

Are you ok?

I'm fine :) I was just trying to see if anyone had any advice for others who might be in a tough spot. That's why the question was a general question. Be creative :)

Glad to hear it, I see as of late you were censored and that one of your last posts was about how HU has changed, I went to look at a response and the post was gone. What advice do you give to someone who is bummed out and worried about thier future, you have been through some real hardships what got you through it?

Depending on the situation, a combination of positivity and not giving a damn about what other people think lol. You can only ever be the best version of you that you can be. The people that respect that and like you for it will naturally gravitate towards you. But others will still have their noses stuck in the air. To those people, just pretend they don't exist. One lesson I've learned as I've gotten older (I turned 45 in May, by the way lol) is you start to care less about what other people think and more about the things that really matter in life and to you. Some people won't fit in that bubble, and that's ok. In our 20's, we're so worried about fitting in and being accepted. In your 30's, the people who already accept you are already there. Why bother trying to please everyone else? You can't, so why try? In my 30's, I started to get more comfortable in my own skin (even though I'm overweight and I know I need to lose weight), I have my own hobbies and interests and I talk to other people and read a lot to expand my awareness. I don't care if I'm popular or if I'm in with a certain crowd. I like DC Comics, if that hasn't been made abundantly clear lol. I love studying history. I'm a huge fan of the Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges. I love the classic Hawaii Five-O series. I like Star Trek novels (well, I like Star Trek in general lol). That's me. If you agree with me, GREAT! :) If not, oh well, your loss. lol We are all unique and special in our own way. Why do we need to fit into something that makes us feel awkward at the end of the day? Be yourself, live life the way you want and as long as you're not hurting other people, who cares what others think?

Your pal,

Brian :)

As an introvert in an extrovert applauding world, it’s easy to hide away and be forgotten. My comfort zone in a world of constantly talking people is to be silent. People constantly wanting to hear their own voice is overwhelming and painful to my ears. Fitting in when I long for silence and peace is a challenge. Certainly I’m not hurting people, but extroverts think everyone should be like them

Just be yourself. I'm an introvert as well. I can take people in small doses before I need to get away. We're all different and unique. 😀

Awesome! Thanks for the response. I’m about the same age. You have some really cool interests DC comics had a huge renaissance over the past decade. Always wanted to read Harpo’s autobiography (Harpo Speaks). I definitely have shaped my life at times around what other people think. I need to work on that.
