Waking up to a racing heart

My anxiety and depression have been bothering me again since having sinus surgery a few weeks ago. I’m starting to improve, however I keep waking up to a racing heartbeat, burning tension in my chest, pressure in my head with ringing ears and panicking that I’m having a heart attack or dying. I don’t know rather to chalk it up to anxiety or worry that it’s physical. When I worry that it’s something more, I feel it makes it worse. Anyone else dealing with this?

I’ve been waking up to my chest being really tight and I can’t seem to get it under control. I was recently diagnosed with anxiety and I’m having a hard time dealing with it. I have 6 children, I’m always stressed and scared that this will be the end of me due to the constant stressors my life consist of 😢 Don’t know what to do

I have the same exact symptoms and feel weak all day afterward. I have 4 kids and homeschool plus work part time and teach in two local homeschool coops. I’m sure the busy schedule contributes to it. My husband also travels a lot and every time he makes a long trip I get so nervous something will go wrong and I’m sure that makes things worse also. I just never know rather it’s something wrong with my heart or anxiety, so afraid I will dismiss something real :(

Congratulations on being dedicated to making sure your children receive the best education you can provide them. The time and effort you are putting in will be worth the suffering you are going through. That aside I would ask your doctor and have things checked out. It will give you peace of mind. Did they do any cardiac testing pre op?

I would still bring your concerns to your doctor. So you can have peace of mind.

By any chance are you on post surgical steroids? Sometimes they can make the anxiety and it’s symptoms worse.

Actually, just found out I have steroid releasing implants that they placed in my sinuses. They release steroid for 30 days. Luckily I’m at the end of that time period!

That's anxiety talking, Shell. Let it. I had the same experience as you are having right now. Nothing's gonna happen to you. May I recommend the book "Anxiety Happens: 52 Ways to find Peace of Mind. " It really helped me deal with this deliberating illness. Plus of course Propranol.
