Waking up with anxiety

I can’t open my eyes at first. My heart is racing. I don’t want to wake up to another day. I am scared. I just want to hide in bed but the anxiety gets the better of me. How do you get out of bed when you feel so much pressure? How do you face the day

How do you deal with this?

When I wake up with a panic feeling I tend to try to remember to breath, put my hands over my heart and either out loud or in my head tell myself it will be ok, it will pass, I will survive. I sometimes cry too but then think about doing one thing, putting the kettle on, shower, pick out clothes for example rather than think about getting ready for the day or what it might hold. Be kind to yourself.

Thank you for the good advice. I will do my best and try.

Hang in there

Do you have nightmares that cause this? I'd wake from a deep sleep with my heart pounding, panicky, whole body flushed bright red. If so, prazosin helps me.

Yes I do have nightmares. They trigger the rapid heartbeats and the rest.

Talk with your psychiatrist about prazosin. It's used for PTSD and has shown to work with night terrors. webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/pra...

I will look into it and talk to my doctor about it. Thanks for the good advice. It is truly appreciated.
