I've been on Prozac for quite awhile & it has stopped doing anything to help.... Sent an email to my doctor to let her know.... she wants to know if I want to give Lexapro a try... Does anyone have any experience with Lexapro? I'm kind of concerned with the side effects.... Any insight would be great
Thanks 💛

Hi melbrown, I was tried on different drugs and combinations while in patient. Lexapro was the only one that didn't give me side effects and allowed me to be clear headed and not tired. I've been on 15 mg for about 5 years, started at 10mg. I can only hope that if you do give Lexapro a try, it works for you as it does for me. Good Luck xx
I’m on 10 mg of Lexapro now and it’s the first thing in two years that has been helpful. Only been a month so hopefully it’ll keep getting better. Good luck!

When did it start working? Currently on third week of Prozac, but only making me more anxious...

It took about two weeks for the lexapro but then life got more stressful and I had to up my medicine. But I know they always say 3 to 4 weeks is normal to start really feeling effects of most medicines. Sometimes we feel side effects first before beneficial effects. Hope it starts helping soon. Good luck!
Hi Melbrown my dr also prescribed Lexapro a few wks ago and I have not started it yet as I was afraid of it’s side effects. One reason I just joined this site. I am curious if you started it and how it went?
Hi Jljan21, I've been on Lexapro (15mg) for 4 years now and it's actually the best med I've been on w/o any drowsiness or cloudy headed feeling. For me it works. I hope you give it a try. Do not read the insert or do research on the meds. I feel it is better to take something new with an unbiased opinion as well as believing that it will work. Good Luck xx
Jljan21, I was started on Lexapro in the hospital and it was given to me at lunchtime. I have kept that schedule. You might want to try taking it after lunch and not on an empty stomach in the morning esp that is when our anxiety is at a higher level. My best xx
Hi Jljan21. I haven't emailed my doctor back. Should do it.... like you I'm scared of the side effects. Agora1 has good advice & experience with Lexapro. Not to mention a total sweetheart. Hope you give it a try , we're here to support each other. 💛
I take 10mg in the morning... I took at night but it was messing my sleep schedule .. i happen to feel the effects quickly and have been able to stick to it for about 2 months ... and I use cannabis mainly sativa .
Hi there! I have suffered with awful anxiety and depression since I was little. My doctor put me on prozac for a couple of years, but it stopped working for me, also. I kept having to increase my dosage to see any change. I was put on lexapro after and I really liked it. My panic attacks and generalized anxiety were manageable, and I noticed a difference in my depression as a result. However, a huge downside to lexapro for me was the weight gain. I gained 20 lbs. in the span of a few months. I was constantly hungry and could not stop eating. Ultimately, the weight gain caused me to switch yet again. After a few other trial and error experiences with medication, I found that Zoloft was the best choice for me. I'm not sure if you've tried it or not, but I have been on a loft of different medications and zoloft has been the best fit for me.
I took Lexapro for a grand total of 5 days. That’s how long it took to put me in the ER with chest pains and elevated blood pressure. It has a seemingly endless list of side effects. Needless to say, I had to breakup with Lexa during my ER visit. Haven’t even taken Clonazepam for almost 10 days now. I try to stay ahead of the game and listen to soothing music like gospel or classical as well as set a “happy place” computer background at work and lots of 🙏🏽
