Early menopause or thyroid?

I really need some advice because I don’t know what’s going on since I have had blood tests done privately and with GP and I have been told there is no issue.

I am 36 For the last 18 months I have had my usual 3-5 day medium/light periods drop to just 1-3 days super super light. My periods have been regular (ish) within 30-35 days which is normal but my last period was 40 days in between and I barely had any bleeding this time round at all it lasted max 48 hours. I have increased anxiety during my period and some light night sweats around my period. I’ve just started a new relationship and I really would like a family however obviously I will need to wait a bit longer.

In the last year I have had blood tests done for FSH and LH on day 3

Test 1 FSH 6.7 LH 7.6

Test 2 FSH 7.1 LH 7.5

I then had a test 4 months ago for AMH which came back as 23.3 pmol and estrógen 123 pmol

The doctor told me my levels were all in normal range and there was no indication of menopause.

I looked my results up and this AMH looked to be pretty good for my age - can this drop quickly? Could I still be menopausal with these results? I just can’t understand why my periods are getting lighter and lighter.

I have hashimotos for the same period of time as the change in my periods and I am on Levo my levels were tested last week as t4 14.1 and TSH 4. I know they are still out of range but would this really have an effect on menstrual cycle?

I am very anxious about all of this as I feel like my fertility has run out already :(

You'll get some fab advice if you copy this post and share in the Thyroid UK section of the site.

If you wish to get pregnant, you really need a TSH of below 2.5, or you have a heightened risk of miscarriage.

I have hashi's, and have had awfully irregular periods for years, and they were inconsistent like yours. This last year, I worked through the Hashimotos Protocol by Izabella Wentz, and I would highly recommend it. Magnesium supplements have helped to regulate my flow, and I've gone from an inconsistent 30-50 day cycle, to now being a regular 29/30 day cycle again. My period symptoms have all eased substantially.

You should also be aware that if you fall pregnant, you need to immediately increase your thyroxine dose by 50mcg.
