Hiya, I’m looking for some advice. I’m 22 years old and have been having symptoms of the menopause/ovary disfunction for about a year. I have suspected endometriosis (hoping to have laparoscopy soon but waiting list in uk is v v long)
My symptoms include:
Hot flashes
My cycle has gotten much shorter (I’m having a period every 1-2 weeks) but bleeding is much lighter than it used to be
Unexplained weight gain
Tiredness
Mood swings
Brittle hair
Dry skin
Insomnia
Heart palpitations
Dizziness
Aching legs & joint pain
I’ve had full bloods done, all fine apart from a slight iron deficiency which I’m taking supplements for. Thyroid function is fine too (TSH 3.6 miu/L)
I’ve recently had my FSH and LH tested. My FSH is 3.6 iu/L and my LH is 5.0 iu/L. My doctor says these levels are normal and isn’t willing to do any further investigations.
I know that my symptoms aren’t normal. Especially for a 22 year old. Has anyone experienced this? What did you do about it? How do I get my doctor to listen to me? And if this isn’t the menopause - what the hell is it?!
Any advice MASSIVELY appreciated

Do you have the range for TSH as 3.6 would normally be indicating hypothyroidism is looming, you need both T4, T3 and antibodies testing. All your symptoms match with being hypo.
Hiya, yes my dr records the range as being 0.2-4. I did raise the fact that my TSH was creeping towards being too high but he shot that down and told me “not to get it into my head that there’s something wrong with my thyroid.” 😳 He also refused to order T3 & T4 tests. Not sure what to do about that! But thanks for pointing that out - I’d written off thyroid being the issue due to what dr said but will push for more tests
Just proves what all thyroid patients know that Drs know nothing about how to diagnose and treat, it’s an ongoing battle ! The guidelines do say 2 tests need to be over range before diagnosing but a knowledgeable Dr will do it before you get to that stage.
You could do private finger prick test for T4 and T3, your Dr no doubt will refuse to take note of the result but at least you will be able to keep track, most of us on Thyroiduk use Medichecks. If you haven’t looked at the thyroid forum yet it’s worth reading through and asking questions.
There's a discount code on thyroid Uk. Get the full thyroid test as it covers the common vitamins that can also cause symptoms e.g B12, Foliate and Vitamin D.thyroiduk.org/thyroid-funct...
