menopause bleed

havent had a period for 3 months the two before that were extremely heavy couldnt go far because of leaks. Im 53. Last few days had low right sided pain and pain in stomach. Today the start of a period. Is this the sort of pattern before periods stop? I was getting so pleased 12 weeks without a period!!

🤔 Periods can be very erratic during Perimenopause..there’s no predicting how the transition to menopause will go. My last period was shortly after I was 54…I could hardly believe that was the end of it. See your GP to check there isn’t a Cyst on your ovary..I have one and it sometimes causes pain.

Oh Wxm22 I feel your pain!!! We are all different though so I'm sure even an expert in the field couldnt say if this was common / normal!!?? I was all over the place when I went through the menopause, stopped for a year then started again out the blue!! Horrible heavy periods 😪 sometimes I couldn't go out!! Your experience is unique to you!! but if it gets unbearable you could go to to your GP and see if they will put you forward for a pelvic scan? that way they will be able to see what's going on inside!? also a blood test just to clarify you are going through the menopause!! Its no fun is it!! but once it's finished it's bliss!! Take care.

its normal then!! Ive had a scan I know I have fibroids! Think I was getting excited that i had gone so long without a period. Will have to start countdown again. Thanks for replying

Yes. I have terrible trouble with periods as well. My perimenpause started in November 2000 and my period in October 2000 was fine. My period in November 2000 was heavy and prelonged and times you would think that it was stopping but it was not. Had to be put on medication to stop it and have been amenic at times. I have had ultrasound and investigations galore and nothing was found. My periods vary some can very light to very heavy. I have had to be put on medication at various time during periods. They are considering a coil for me as my own GP said medication is not the solution. At least there is nothing major for me.
