Hi, my mum is diabetic and the thing is really weighing her down all the time. She has been eating according to her doc's recommendations, but her sugar level always goes up from time to time. Right now she's not fit and healthy. We've spent a lot already on her health condition and she's not getting better. What can she really do to keep her sugar level checked and regulated? We need a kinda permanent remedy to keep her well.

Hello and welcome Debuggiman
None of us are medically trained but we do have lots of members who’ve had success on a Low Carbohydrate plan, and are managing their diabetes well.
Here is a link that you may find helpful
phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...
Also the Diabetes.co.uk site here diabetes.co.uk/diet/low-car...
Please ensure that your Mum runs this passed her doctor first though. 😊

Hi Debuggiman ,
Welcome to the group.
Has your Mom’s doctor suggested that she count carbs. for each meal and snack? Is your mom type 1, 1.5( LADA) or 2? Is she on medication? Insulin? Insulin and medication together? Exercise and diet with medication and insulin together?
HU has the DRWF group along with the Diabetes India group. Here’s the link to the DRWF group. healthunlocked.com/drwfdiab...
I want to call on Hidden
Click on her name, and look what she is eating now.
2 months ago, she joined here. She is (was??) a type ii diabetic. She was injecting herself 3 times a day and on 2 other diabetes medications. She changed her diet, and has stopped the injections and one of her medications. Note: she is working with her diabetes nurse, and you and your mum must do the same. In 2 months she has also lost 3 stone!!
This is the discussion that I believe she took her inspiration from - but it's all down to her and her husband!

(read the post from moreless above that link, watch the video, then talk to your mum's diabetes team)
I hope Iwilldoit22 will join in with her experience.
Hello Debuggiman
Take a look at the Diet Doctor website, lots of free info. The idea is to eat more healthy fats and less carbs. Carbs turn into sugar so that includes rice, pasta etc as well as all the sweet stuff. Healthy fats are generally better for us than lots of carbs.
PLEASE remember that if your mother is on medication the lower carbs can lower her glucose levels so do talk to a health professional.
Some health areas have run free programmes; Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme. I have seen the book for sale on the internet which is used on the programme.
Good luck!
Hello and welcome, MeMe111 😊
You'll find all the information you need about the forum in our Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... including a Welcome message. A good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.
Take your time exploring. This gives you a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true and, along with Pinned Posts, will show you how things work. I hope you'll become an active member and we will see you joining in around the forum 😊
PS the app doesn’t give access to all parts of the forum so we advise everyone to get rid of the app and log on to the full website using the browser on their phone

Have a look at diabetes.co.uk. Diabetes T2 is completely reversible in many cases.
If your doctor's advice is not working, then by definition this means that his advice is wrong. I'm routinely baffled by the crazy advice handed out to diabetics. If I didn't know better, I'd wonder if all doctors were asleep and hungover during Physiology 101.
