It’s my first time doing anything like this so any tips would be accepted. I best intro myself, I’m 49 and love life. I’m under a dietitian as my hba1c is a little high, I’m now carb and calorie counting and it started today along with this.

Thank you Minniewinny, I’ve had a read and a lot of it makes sense. I went threw a lot of this with my dietitian, but thank you anyway 😃

It's always good when things make sense and advice agrees with what you already have confidence in.

Hello and welcome PhotoJas .

Apologies if your dietitian has already given this information but better to have it twice than not at all phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

NHS England runs a Diabetes Prevention Programme that many forum members have found very useful england.nhs.uk/diabetes/dia... Unfortunately, it doesn't run everywhere but you could check if it's in your area.

Finally, have a look at diabetes.co.uk for further information and support.

Having said all that, you will find loads of support here, too, so take your time reading the link Minniewinny has given you and get involved as much as you can

Hi BridgeGirl, yes I have had the information thanks. Been looking at what I can and can’t eat yesterday, feel like a rabbit today lol.

No, it's not all about lettuce :D far from it. Joking apart, you need to find an approach you will enjoy so you can stick with it, and with any possibility of diabetes, it is about changing the way you eat, not just about losing weight.

You might like to join the Daily Diary to log your daily meal plans and pinch ideas from others.

And if you're going to go the low carb high fat route which is increasingly recommended, there's a specific forum for that - you'll see an overlap of people between the two forums healthunlocked.com/lchf-diet .

Good luck :)

Hi Yogamornings18 - I hope you're enjoying your yoga morning :)

Have a look at the Daily Diary (directions in your welcome post healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... ) and you might pick some ideas up there for getting the best out of your calorie allowance. Think about trying some new recipes - there are plenty here under Topics. And make sure you're enjoying your food and feeling full, without the need for snacks - find a way that you can stick with for good

My name is based on my profession, I’m a wedding, portrait photographer and have put on 3.5 stone though unhealthy eating habits. My diabetes doesn’t help matters. But on a positive note I started aqua aerobics 15 weeks ago and have lost 3 inches off my waist.

Not what you're looking for?
