I’m new to this as of today. I’ve embarked on similar journeys many a time before, which have all been abandoned pretty hastily. This time I want it to stick.
I’m worried that my weight is starting to affect my health, and this has given me a real kick up the rear end that I desperately needed. I don’t want to feel unhealthy or uncomfortable in my own skin any longer, and I plan to finally do something about it.
Any tips any of you more experienced folk have, would be much appreciated!

Hiya peonyblossom. I too am taking the reigns and starting my journey as of tomorrow (25/3). Need to lose 4 stone by October. The advice i am giving you is, do not jump into a strict diet that completely strips away treats like a bar of chocolate rather have self control (my issue is self control) have a bar once or twice a week. Drink water before and during meals as it fills you up fast and means you don’t eat as much. Get into exercise like cycling or start the c25k or just take yourself on a walk. Good luck and I hope you get the results you want to achieve. Anything is possible x
I feel like I'm prattling on now but another good aspect about this forum is that whilst things may be discussed that aren't always palatable, the support here is only ever positive (whether you're doing well or having a bad day/week). We're all going through it so sympathise totally.

My personal tip would be to try and immerse yourself here as the helpful, friendly and knowledgeable people are always around to spur you on and keep you going. There's much to do but maybe start by reading the posts and replies plus providing support for others who most likely need you too.
Oh... and do ask as many questions as you want.
Good luck and look forward to seeing you both around

Hello and welcome 99with2in2 😊. From what I see the Banting diet is a LCHF eating plan, so you may like to have a look at the LCHF forum.

Thank you for the offer - I've achieved my "awesome" weight (down to 10st 10lb from 13st 10 lb) and got my BP down from 148 (top reading) to 123. I'm not re-introducing carbs as yet as my wife still has a way to go to her awesome - can't believe that having reached aged 60 and been overweight for 44 years I've got back to my school leaving weight - Banting works!
