Hi, I’m absolutely brand new to all of this! I’ve never dieted before and my downfalls are sweets, crisps, cakes, sugar and wine!!
I’m 54 and, maybe it’s too late, but I just can’t face going up another dress size! It’s early days but I was drinking a bottle of wine every night but I’m making the decision to only drink on Friday & Saturday so this week I’ve had 4 days of no wine! I’m also going on our exercise bike every other day and then going for a long walk the days in between. I do enjoy walking and with 2 labradors I have to go out with them.
My husband says there’s nothing wrong with me but I don’t like me so that’s why I’m doing this!

Hello and welcome to the weight loss forum, Labbygirl
It's never too late. It sounds as though you have a good level of exercise so it's your food you need to make some changes to, and my tip would be a) don't be over-restrictive as you'll be hungry, miserable and won't stick with it and b) start finding out more about how what we eat makes a difference (especially as we get older) rather than focusing on how much. This is a good first read healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
You'll find everything you need, including a Welcome message, in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... A good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in team on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.
I hope you'll become an active member and we'll see you out and about around the forum, reading, chatting and supporting others
PS among the Pinned Posts, you'll find the DrinkLess Club, hosted by Eleanorba . Members are supporting each other to manage their drinking at a level they're comfortable with
It's never too late and it sounds like you've started to make some positive changes already!
It's worth doing some research around what to eat, and make sure you get all the goodness you need in sensible amounts.
I was similar to you and I found the first couple weeks difficult with sugar cravings as the amount of sugar I consumed dropped with my healthy eating changes . But I promise you it gets easier and you feel better for it! I've found I get a lot less hungry and tired because my blood sugar doesn't spike up and down so rapidly.
You're already on the right track and you've already got the right mentality - if you want to change you do it for yourself and no one else
Hi and welcome well done on cutting down on the wine I did the same and felt much better for it. Now only drink at the weekend or special occasions, my kids bought me a T-shirt that says my personal trainer has 4 legs, because I was walking our labs so often, I’m starting again so looks like the T-shirt will have to come out again. Good luck on your journey
