Glp medication not working

Hi..so I've used wegovy and very slowly lost a stone...in a few months...decided to switch to mounjaro and in the time I built up to 7.5mg I'd gained half a stone back...eventually the full stone back on???...yet I had the suppression and definitely ate less as you are meant to on these medication. Started back on wegovy and I'm just at the end of the 0.5mg with partial suppression and no weight loss yet...I'm Hashimoto's and 57 and can't understand why I haven't lost weight with the suppression...anyone else?

Hi les121 and welcome to our weight loss support community. As we’re not medically qualified I suggest that you have a chat with your health support team. I understand that you’re using a prescription medication so a doctor must have prescribed it.

In the meantime you don’t mention how much you weigh, how much you “need” to lose or which eating plan you’re following.

I suggest that you join in with our Daily Diary and weekly Weigh in, you’ll be able to see how other members are going about their weight loss journey. This is the link to our pinned posts where you’ll find everything that we have to offer.

Hi there, are you in a calorie deficit? Its not just eating less, it is what you are eating. It needs to be high protein and low calorie. You also need to drink lots of water. I've been on mounjaro since October. I'm a slow loser but lost nearly 5 stone. I've got a long way to go still. I use the NHS app to log everything eat and stay in my calories. I hope it starts to work for you 😊

If you've lost 5 stone since Oct, you are not a slow loser at all. That's an amazing loss. I'm on month 6 and only lost 2 stone on mounjaro.

Well done

Thank you. I'd lost a stone before I started the MJ. I have a lot to lose. I have been on steroids for my asthma for nearly 4 years, so ballooned up and have PCOS. Glad you're losing too 👏👏

I'm the same been on pred for 10yrs, and for life for lupus. I also have Lipedema, hence the slow lose. Any loss is better than a gain .Thanks x

2 St is fabulous it does plateau they said to me, I've got one dose of 5mg mounjaro left before going up to 7.5mg and only lost about 2kg although I haven't started back exercising due to nerve spasm in back, but it does suppress my eating so will go all the way to 15mg and give it 1 year then assess if I continue or stop, early day's but no side effects sarahalice. Hope we both get to lose the weight, although my bmi is 43 GP don't give weight loss injections on NHS so I buy with privately from reputable company.

Thank you.I'm doing the same, though I have a load of health conditions, I don't qualify for NHS injections. So I'm buying mine through Chequp. I am also going to give it a year, I'm half way through my little experiment already.

Going to try and up my exercises with more walking and I have a mini trampoline. 🤞 we both have success.

Good luck x

We both have multiple health conditions then as lymphoedema on both lower leg's and nerve pain in lower back is my main issue, although both back to normal touch wood. I have my weight loss injection with MedExpress where I put my code online so when someone uses it they get £40 off as like myself the same off next higher dose, I know the most ill pay is on 15mg £199 it's a treat to myself to try and get weight down as didn't lose anything down gym all last year 3 time's per week did next to nothing except felt fitter, but Jean size didn't change, that was really annoying after giving it a good go!! Trampoline is good and what my supplier said to me I don't need to be in the gym but do some activity for 30 minute's per day like an easy walk, even house work (moderate)will help. Hope we both lose something if not reaching our goal's. I do know hard exercising doesn't lose the weight.I wish you well on your journey 👍I nearly went with Chequp but found MedExpress a little cheaper 🙂

I’ve been on Mounjaro since September and last 26lbs so very slow. I actually started to plateau put on a pound the other week and I was gutted but I wasn’t eating enough. I was at last losing inches! I’ve upped my protein and water and thankfully my weight is starting to move again. I’m 70 and illness has meant restricted exercise for the last few weeks. I’m still nearly two stone down and feeling much better for it. I’ve started back to exercise classes this week so that should help. If you’re not losing the weight then I’d ask you doctor or provider for advice . I also find Dr Dan videos on YouTube very useful. He advised the upping protein and water and making sure that you are eating enough of the good foods

How totally gutting for you!! I can imagine you're absolutely jarred off . I had thought it was the be all and end all. I can't take it as I've got Osteoporosis but writing to commiserate with you, it's a blighter isn't it!! Fed up with the constant battle with the weight and reading every blinkin' day what a burden we are in the NHS... If only those who write such stuff knew what a battle and how miserable it make us maybe they'd kindly shut up - wishful thinking! 🤷🙃😅

I'm OK n 5mg this is my fourth week and I put on 4lbs. My friend lost 7! 🙃 I've also felt like the suppression isn't as strong but been drinking my water and in calorie deficit. I've emailed my provider but thinking I'll have to move up I know how frustrating it is!
