Sounds like you have a real incentive and desire to make some changes towards a healthier way of living. You won't find much about diets on here, just ideas and encouragement to relate to and deal with food in a different way.
I wish you all the best. And I'd suggest you put the 6st 6lb aside for the moment and set yourself a short term goal that you can achieve. You'll soon be underway

It helped me change my life around completely Julie. All I want to say, is follow the link that Minniewinny has provided and read everything there and everything behind the links there. By reading as much information as possible, you'll be giving yourself the best chance to succeed.
At the same time, don't expect it all to sink it at once, it's not a race but each small change will help get you to where you want to be.

helloooo Julie and welcome! this is a fantastic place to start your new life! I usually post at weird hours as I live in Texas so excuse me. anyway, the newbie club is cool and you will learn all kinds of awesome things in this forum. I use the "diet" as a new way of living, not a diet that I will be on short term to lose some weight and go back to the terrible way I ate before. I have lost 16 pounds in about 6 or 8 weeks and I am feeling better already. I have 100 pounds to lose to get to a more manageable and healthier weight. I look at it as if I lose weight, it is a plus. I like just feeling better, eating healthier and having my clothes start to fit better. please, continue to read the posts here and post yourself and you will have the support you need. we are all in this together and if we have lost what we wanted to.. then we have experience and knowledge. if we are in the struggle with you then we are learning everyday like you are. my first bit of suggestion is to use smaller plates. I have found that it tricks me into thinking I am eating a lot when I am eating less. this is how I have lost nearly a stone in 6 or 8 weeks. I was not happy losing so slow until one of the genius ones of this forum explained to me that slow loss is the cornerstone of keeping it off and also I will not have so much baggy, ugly skin. yay! we can do this, together, so chin up doll! and hang in there
Hi - I too have around 100 pounds to lose. I started in earnest on 1 November - 6 weeks ago - after coming out of hospital and so far have lost 14 pounds. Like you I’m trying to learn how to eat and live differently in the hope that this attempt will work and the effects will be long lasting
Well done opening up. Slimming world helped me, my brother-in-law and his best mate and his son. His sun has just earned the right through weight loss to have plastic surgery to remove excess body form. Without the support of SW it might not have happened. Good luck.
