Loose weight
Hi Steven, check out NHS 12week diet plan .. Full of lots of ideas to aide weight loss .. Maybe not my place to say but it's only my humble opinion .. 4 stone sounds a lot to lose if your tall & aiming for 10st .. Take a stone at a time , follow variations 10mins exercise workouts on NHS website . Weight loss & building/toning muscle you will def see your body shape change.. Good luck 👍
whats your current bmi? Rather than pick a random weight target look at your BMI it would be. Once you have reached BMI 25 which is upper edge of healthy BMI review yourself and maybe ask family or friends their views- if still not happy find out what target weight would be to have a BMI of 24 and do the same. I picked a random target of 55kg and it was a BMI 22 but when I put it in stones & lbs I realised that was too thin for me- I had gotten down to that before when training for the Full Moon charity walk so aiming for a BMI of 22.5 which is 8st 9lb.
If you are in the healthy BMI range it maybe exercise you need to tone your body rather than loosing weight.
Good luck in whatever you do
Welcome Steven. My tip is choose one small change you can make long term, maybe something that you know is a bad habit (mine is sugary snacks in the evening).
Tell us your idea, work really hard to break the habit and let us know how you got on after a week. There are loads of ideas available through this forum, but introducing yourself and posting your weight is a great first step. Good luck!
Hello Stevo234 welcome to the weight loss forum ☺
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
Best wishes
Anna
Steven, how tall are you? It may be that you aren't far off what you should be and 4st sounds an awful lot to lose. There are examples on the Live Well website that show for example if you are around gft 3" and 14st then your BMI is around 24 and the weight range for your height is around 10st 8lb to 14st 5lb. I think that is a very big range and its possible that if you lost 4st that you look very gaunt.
I'd say if you still want to lose some weight that you try to aim for small goals, don't say you want to lose 4st because that is a big goal, take small steps and see how you feel when you reach each goal.
I'd say then that you need to look at what you are eating and drinking and cut back on the bad stuff, and exercise doing toning exercises. I'm sure you will get there but don't go mad and expect it to happen overnight, better to go slowly and it will stay off.
