HRT AND LEVOTHYROXINE AND ELVANSE

I have been using oestrogel for over a year now and swapped to hrt patches about 2 months ago.I never tested for oestrogen or prog levels though.i am 52.I have been taking elvanse for adhd for over a year also...again didn't take any bloods.

I am now in thos last week upping 150to 175 levothyroxine and plan to blood test in 6 weeks as t3 is 3.7 t4 is 12.3 tsh 0.71

Have been told to take extra 25mg each day but anxiety had greatly shot up and lost 2 -3 nights sleep and palpitations

So..today have gone down to 150mg levo again and reduced my elvanse and kept hrt patch on.

Should I take a baseline test again NOW? My test was in June.

Should I do an oestrogen amd prog test also?

Should I ask for 12.5g tablets?..as not accurate if I cut them..OR shld I take 150 one day and 175 next day and just alternate for 6 weeks.

I really want to get results for thyroid antibodies as think it cld be hashimotos..again do I need to wait 6 weeks?

Shld I start taking a complex b supplement as b12 is also 684 and folate is 7.8 and ferritin 84..again shld u wait for 6 weeks or start now at same time as increasing levo?

Perhaps a 25mcg a day increase was a bit much on one go? Perhaps alternate days would be smoother for a week or two?

Testing before an increase makes sense. So you know where you are. Perhaps do that first then see.

Generally from what I’ve seen here HRT seems to mean people need a slight increase (but not always). TiggerMe is my HRT go to.

Sorry I can’t comment on AdHD meds, I don’t know anything about them.

That leaves me only to say how sorry I am about the anxiety, I hear you, any slight alteration or new suggestions or worse an issue with supply or appointment that might mean change, sends me into a spiral that takes work to rationalise, explain and communicate to loved ones. Fear keeps us safe, as my counsellor said to me. Reminding myself of that is comforting 🌱

Thankyou so much.Ok maybe I should retest right now...everything.(and oestrogen and progesterone?)..perhaps do it privately?(so that it's quick?)..So even though I've done a week on 25mg extra I will still test (and keep on 150mg up and until this test)..Then day after start properly. Taking 175mg every other day with 150mg?..for 6 weeks. then a blood test again?

I’m not sure testing O and P tells you much? Don’t they vary a lot day to day and during the day? But hopefully TiggerMe will pick this up

With the alternate days I would do this for a week and then up it, but I wouldn’t increase until you have the results, I’d also wait so you have had at least 4 weeks back on 150mcg. It’s a bore to wait but testing now when you have made quick changes doesn’t tell you much and costs you money too. 🌱

I also just saw you got this message from SlowDragon about similar questions in your time of day post, this reply is more helpful and knowledgeable than mine

Sex hormone testing is bit hit and miss until post meno when it is really useful for finding a good balance and to check you are absorbing well, whichever form you are using... have you noticed any difference since changing to patches? Certainly low levels can cause anxiety

Changing your levo dose could well cause some bumps for the first 6 weeks, it might be worth splitting your dose am and pm to hopefully smooth things out

additudemag.com/menopause-s...

just thought you might find this helpful. fluctuating hormones during menopause makes ADHD worse , anxiety increasing and sleep worse. The others are much more knowledgeable than me on thyroxine and they have given good advice. TiggerMe is better on HRT, I personally felt better when I was swapped to Gel from patches which seems better and ADHD meds definitely help. It's difficult trying to get all your 🦆🦆🦆 in a row when several meds or lack of could cause similar issues so just one small change at a time otherwise you'll never know which change is helping or hindering.
