Levothyroxine and HRT

My first post on here but have been following for the last 4 years and have learnt so much from all the different posts. My question is about taking HRT tablets as well as Levothyroxine . I take my levo before bed but my HRT tablets also say to take at night. Will this affect my levo? Should I consider moving the levo to the morning? I’m new to HRT so hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. I’ve been on Levothyroxine for 14 years but have only been taking at night for the last couple of years. It works better for me.

HRT must be minimum of 4 hours away from levothyroxine

So if taking levothyroxine at bedtime suits you best, will need to take HRT in morning

Retest thyroid levels 6-8 weeks after starting HRT …often after adding HRT members find they might need to increase levothyroxine dose

Thank you. I just wasn’t sure if I could take the HRT in the morning or not so I will do that. I’m having a blood test on Friday so will start after that so I can get a good idea if anything has changed in 6 weeks.

Hi Mmagic,

Regarding HRT, it may be useful to have a look at Dr Louise Newson’s free Balance App, as I find it really useful for comparing HRT medications & having up to date research articles. There is also an ability to post questions. Many people report that the progesterone element of HRT makes them sleepy, hence taking it at bedtime.

That’s interesting, I have an oestrogen patch that I change every 3 days and I use a measured testosterone pump gel twice a week, I normally take my thyroid tablets early in the morning, what are the thoughts on the interaction here please

I also have an oestrogen patch, but I change it once a week. My dosage is 0.05 per day, my insurance company will not cover a higher dose which I think I need. I am also on Thryoid medication, I don' feel there is any interaction with the other HRT I am taking. I take Testro-cream a couple times a week as well. Do you know if this kind of cream is good as a supplement?

I wish I could say yes, I was really hoping it would bring some respite from the chronic fatigue, but sadly I have yet to notice any difference, I have been on it for about 3 months
