Finally get to see the GP !

So, here is my update after providing you with blood test results. After taking the thyroid blood test with Monitor my Health (because I wanted to know how my T3 level was as NHS don’t request this) and Thyroid U.K. input to ask GP to increase my Levo from 175 to alternating 175 and 200, had an appointment with her this morning (had to wait more than 2 weeks for this). Gave her the print out of blood results. Went through all the rigmarole of explaining (again) what Endo said (ignore suppressed TSH as I’m not over medicated), was on 200 Levo for more than 40 yrs till new surgery reduced it. GP said she wanted to be cautious so to take 175 Mon- Fri and then 200 Sat+Sun and the retest in 6-8 weeks. Oh, and she said T3 not that important!!!! Flabbergasted! It’s a wonder I have hair on my head! How does one change this outdated view? Personally, I’m ready to just do my own thing and go back to my 200mg a day as that’s when I felt well and didn’t feel or look more like Michelin Man! Just so say again how thankful I am for a Thyroid U.K. and all the help and information I receive from such knowledgeable people.💕

is it any wonder the huge increase in dissatisfaction of thyroid patients and their treatment from GPS!?

I'd take that as a win !!

She has made herself appear even more inadequate and lacking knowledge by making these stupid comments which are throw away comments only fit for the litter bin :

Collect the prescription and go back to where you were and hopefully round 2 may not even come, and your prescription just roll on.

The problem is that even Endos lack the knowledge to be found here at Thyroid U.K.! One of the GPs @my medical centre rang an Endo to ask, “do I go by symptoms or numbers.” Endo said, “numbers!” How do we get a break from such nonsense!? For thyroid sufferers with other conditions as well, it must be soul destroying. Some of the emails on this site have left me close to tears due to the horrendous things they have to deal with. In fact, I passed on to a physio, whose daughter has Hashimotos, Thyroid U.K. details. She had no idea about being gf, about when to have blood test, or about the vits+minerals needed to aid her thyroid! Not one word from any GP! God help us all!
