Can I get Armour Thyroid or NDT from Crete without a prescription? Can I get it with a private prescription if not?

Hi everyone, I have been on Armour Thyroid for 22 years , I’m now 44. I was originally trialed on levothyroxine but there was absolutely no improvement, I was severely ill from a teenager, bed ridden with chronic pain and it was only when I was put on Armour Thyroid in my early 20s that I started to get well. 7 years ago my consultant decided to see if I could live without any thyroid medication at all because of the pressure from the government to have everybody on levothyroxine. I begged my consultant not to do this to me but he insisted and funnily enough ended up severely ill again not able to look after my young children. I well and truly proved that I can’t live without it.

I know I need to start stocking up on my medication as I can’t live without it but I’ve only found Armour Thyroid for £167 for 100 tablets in uk which is completely out of the question, we struggle to get by day to day living as it is.

My parents are going to Crete soon would they be able to get me some Armour Thyroid or an NDT equivalent over the counter with or without a prescription? How much could they bring back to the uk?

I’d greatly appreciate any advice!!!

Thank you so much!

I don't think anyone has ever found any desiccated thyroid in Crete or any of the Greek-related locations.

Armour Thyroid is expensive everywhere.

I'm leaving your post open for now but we usually close posts asking where they can get medicines. But you might need to reply to me or others might need to discuss further.

Please could anyone PM regarding sourcing NDT? Many Thanks!

You should start a new post requesting information by personal message if you want non prescription sources of NDT or any other medication.

You could also consider switching to levo + T3 which many have done due to costs associated with NDT.

Scammers are joining the forum on a very regular basis and messaging members with their assertions that they have successfully purchased xyz medication from zyx source.

First, check the profile of the member that sent you the message. Are they a long term member with an active forum posting history? Or are they a recently joined member with little or no posting history?

Once you have what you think may be a genuine recommendation, please message a forum admin to ask whether the admin team have any feedback on the source you've been given.

Admins are not allowed to recommend sources, but we can tell you what, if any, feedback we've received about the source you've been given.

⚠️ Don't part with your much needed money until you are as sure as you can be that the source is genuine.

Scammers often join the forum and post a 'fake' story about their thyroid journey, that includes mention of self sourcing their thyroid meds. This is to encourage members to ask them where they purchase their medication without prescription.

Thank you so so much for this information!!

I’m so scared to try Levo and T3 as although this time I’d be getting the T3 I had such a horrendous experience on Levo alone that I don’t want to risk being ill again by changing from my Armour Thyroid of approx 23 years.

Really helpful links so thank you a million!

I’ve recently read an article about FDA banning all NDT in 2029 and that you won’t be able to get it anywhere even with a private prescription. Do you know if this is true?

Thank you very much for your help!

Thyroid S from Thailand is regarded as a much cheaper alternative to Armour. Its NDT. I know a number of members swear by it and import it to the UK. Maybe ask people to PM you with reputable sources.
