Would appreciate advice on these results

I am new to the forum and the diagnosis so would appreciate any advice.

In May this year I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's after my antibodies test came strongly positive. Then found out I have a thyroid nodule with two times indeterminate biopsy so recommended lobectomy. My latest labs (did them at 9.30am, fasted 14hrs) are:

TSH - 2.44 (0.35 - 5.5 normal)

FT4 - 21.25 (11.9 - 21.6 normal)

FT3 - 4.27 (3.1 - 6.8 normal)

Anti - Tg 539 (<115 normal)

Anti - TPO 390 (<34 normal)

B12 - 723 ng/l (197 - 771 Optimal)

Vitamin D 70nmol/l (50 - 375 Sufficiency)

Magnesium 0.83 mmol/l (0.7 - 1.1 Optimal)

Iron 23.0 μmol/l (5.8 - 34.5 Optimal)

Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC) 62.8 (44.8 - 80.6 optimal)

Ferritin 20.4 μg/l (10 - 120 Optimal)

Transferrin 3.12 (2.0 - 3.8 Optimal)

Transferrin Saturation 36.6% (15 - 50 Optimal)

Folic acid 11.0 μg/l (3.80 - 26.80 Optimal)

My doctors (GP and endo) say they are normal except antibodies so no meds. However, I wake up with new symptoms everyday. Currently very concerned about:

- Weight loss - 4KGs in less 3 months. I went gluten & dairy free but still eating a lot

- Hair loss - I guess is my low ferritin and higher TSH (my TSH used to be 1.4)

- Feeling extreme hunger and shaky unexpectedly at times. Thinking to investigate low blood sugar/diabetes. Not sure if thyroid can cause this?

1. Any help in interpreting the above blood tests would be appreciated.

2. Does anyone know any functional medicine/integrative doctor that can help with Hashimoto's and potentially other autoimune? I am based in London.

3. Based in my symptoms - any advice on things I should look out for or further tests I need to do?

Thank you!

OK, I've not heard of them before, I don't think any member has posted results from them.

Do they put the results on a coloured bar graph and they show "normal", "optimal" etc levels?

Is there the opportunity to download a set of results just showing the result and full reference range, like in this example:

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Can you post an image of your results showing the ranges please.

I can look to attach like in the example later. What I include above as normal or optimal are the ranges they consider green - outside these ranges they would be marked red.Normal =optimal.

Ferritin obviously on low side

Look at increasing iron rich foods in diet

Hashimoto’s frequently starts with transient hyperthyroid symptoms and results as thyroid cells breakdown releasing excess thyroid hormones

Your high Ft4 could be because of this

After each attack, thyroid becomes a little more damaged and increasingly hypothyroid

Suggest you retest again in 2-3 months

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking

You might want to test cortisol and DHEA

Thank you for your helpful advice. I have emailed thyroid U.K. Also, will test the adrenal function.

I am currently taking vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, vitamin C, selenium and NAC.

Hi riana

I’ve read many a time on here that TSH should be (0.5-1) which I understand is the level where people, without thyroid symptoms, usually are.

All the best
