Any thoughts on the below please? I am considered normal but hoping to see an Endo specialist privately. I do have some more blood test results re: blood count but thought these might be the key ones. Can add if needed

Creatinine 83 (range 53 - 97)

Calcium 2.41 mmol (no normal range)

CKD 75ml/min/1.73m2

Sodium 136mmol (range 133 - 146)

Potassium 4.3ml (range 3.5 - 5.3)

Vitamin D. 87 (no normal range given)

Haemoglobin 130g/l (range 120 - 150)

Ferritin 46 ug/L (normal range 11 - 307)

HbAc1 level - 30 (normal up to 41)

Serum b12 242ng/l (range up to 160)

Folate 6.2 (3.8 - 25)

Plasma ALT 29 (range 7 - 35)

TPO antibodies 1 (normal range 0-30)

TG antibodies (N/K)

TSH 1.19 mu/L (normal 0.34 - 5.6)

FT4 9.2 (normal range 7.7 - 15.1)

FT3 4.7 (range 4.3 - 6.8)

Coristol 365nmol/L

Any support would be great.

Was this test done via NHS?Or private

Is the B12 Active B12 test (private test) or NHS serum test?

Looking like serum test ….and a low result

Can you double check range….typically 210-650 approx

Pity no TG antibodies result

What’s range on cortisol test

What time of day was test done

What’s the range on CKD result

It was NHS - first thing in the morning following a fast.

B12 serum NHS

Antibodies - they only did one!!!!!!

Cortisol - no range given

CKD - no range given

Sorry and B12 re: up to 160 is correct.

If it’s NHS test for B12 that will be serum B12 (NHS doesn’t do Active B12 unless tested via St Thomas’s in London

If that’s serum B12 …range is typically 210-600 ….therefore your result is likely low in range

NHS never tests TG antibodies unless TPO antibodies are high

Significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies …..therefore struggle to get diagnosed via NHS testing

20% of Hashimoto’s patients never have high thyroid antibodies at all

If both antibodies are negative after private testing….consider getting ultrasound scan of thyroid

Obviously cortisol result meaningless without range

Serum b12 242ng/l (range up to 160)

I think you mean …if over 160…..result is considered within range

Optimal serum B12 is over 500

Many people have low B12 symptoms if under 300

Are you vegetarian or vegan?

Sorry for the late reply. No meat eater and I eat well. I’m not overweight (really). I eat cooked beef and pork (homemade not processed) for snacks. I also eat raspberries, a banana and plenty of pumpkin seeds every day. Does that help?

Vit b is > 160. Is that max?

No….it means if B12 under 160 it’s classed deficient

But many people need B12 at least over 300-400

Your B12 is within…..but low

Many people would have symptoms of low B12 at these sorts of levels

So folate, B12 and ferritin are all on low side …..

When hypothyroid (which your lower Ft4 and Ft3 suggests you might be) …..we frequently develop low stomach acid, this leads to poor nutrient absorption and low vitamin levels

Low vitamin levels tend to lower TSH and reduce conversion of Ft4 to Ft3

Request testing for Pernicious Anaemia before starting on any B12 and vitamin B complex
