Little me info: Thyroid-less (cancer) and Psoriatic Arthritis which I have been self injecting Cosentyx (300mg Monthly) and Super high cholesterol and suffering with Anemia ever since I had thyroid removed in 2016 and recently diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy (burning skin) and level 1 kidney disease, I don’t drink or smoke. I do supplement with B12 Complex (recommended here) and Vitamin D3 and occasionally Iron (not consistent) worried about kidney issues which probably makes no difference.
Test info : Same lab, same time both with fasting and no medications until after the test… Im extremely consistent with taking my thyroid meds at the same time every day. Last dose of thyroid meds for BOTH test was 3pm day before test and test was at 9AM.
Have been on 100mcg levo and 10mcg Cytomel for 3 years… my Endo late last year added and extra 50mcg ONCE per week which I did for a while and it made no difference in me or my labs and I kept forgetting to take it …. I forget everything anymore.
I had thyroid test in February and my Endo forgot the T3 test so February results won’t have T3 and NO FREE T3 ever they just won’t test it.
February : test results (100mcg t4 and 10mcg T3)
TSH: 0.255 (L) (0.450 - 4.50)
FT4: 1.42 (0.82 - 1.77)
T3: Endo forgot to order
For the past couple of months my joint pains have subsided quite a bit but my weight keeps climbing even though I have switched my diet to mainly vegetable based Im about 75% veggie based diet and 25% meat based but still experience joint issues when I exercise too much, which I desperately need to do.
I have also been experiencing break through psoriasis for the past couple of months … so my Cosentyx injections are finally not being as effective as they have been for the past 3 years (been on a couple of biologics since thyroidectomy in 2016).
August test results: (100mcg T4 and 10mcg T3)
TSH: 1.66 (0.450 - 4.50)
T3: 109 ( 71-180)
FT4: 1.18 (0.82 - 1.77)
I can not figure out why the SUDDEN jump in TSH since I have been on the exact same dose for 3 years and Im a very scheduled pill taker and my (pills are from the same manufacture) …. I have memory problems that are insane I literally stand in my kitchen and can’t recall why Im standing their and Im hardly hungry which isn’t unusual been like this since thyroidectomy and my weight has gone even more insane in-spite really cutting back and going to a mostly veggies based diet (which agrees with me) Only other thing I don’t understand is why a sudden REDUCTION in my psoriatic arthritis pains when a few months ago I was in agony to now very little pain. Im liking this but I lack stamina but Im a fatty so this could be the issue.
I see my Endo on the 19th of this month and Im sure I will be accused of messing up my meds, which I haven’t.
Any thoughts on what could be the culprit to the jump in TSH do you think my Cosentyx injection thats stopped being as effective could be behind my higher TSH …. I always believed these biological meds skewed my TSH to look lower then they actually are and now that the Cosentyx isn’t doing its magic my TSH is on the move or is where it probably has always been but because Cosentyx was masking the TSH on labs to look lower then it actually was… just my thought.
Another test came back elevated creatine in urine.

75% veggie 25% meat. Any healthy grains? Very low carb can drastically affect T4:T3 conversion and also said to increase cholesterol.
Perhaps this has caused the changes with the TSH as you don’t have the FT3 figures to compare you can’t confirm if this is a factor.
I did 80g of carbs a day for about 6 months which is quite low, it did reduce my FT3 but as a hyper it was beneficial short term.
How do you feel? It’s great the pains have improved. Do you have any new of worsening symptom?
I was always forgetting pills & took an extra doses on at least 1 occasion. I use a pill box now. I also used to have a pill reminder App on my phone. The one I used gave me a pretty picture if I ticked off all my meds each day.
When I say veggies its more veg then meat and I do eat some carbs just not large amounts. Aside from less pains I can’t remember much and have had muscle fatigue in hips and arm (forgot to add this) for months but it comes and goes and I sleep longer then normal and lack of appetite but weight keeps creeping (reason for the diet change). TSH is supposed to be low for thyroid cancer.
Im a fatty and definitely on too low of a T3/T4 dose for my size and I always said this but the problem is convincing the TSH obsessed Endo who only sees cancer prevention by keeping TSH low as I suffer.
This is a newish Endo and top in his field and really won’t know what he has to say until the 19th and Im still waiting on the thyroglobulin test to come back.
I definitely need and increase in meds and I have been feeling this need for a long time but because my TSH keeps coming in low Im pretty much ignored in spite of my constant issues. Now its going to be a strange ride to figure out why the TSH suddenly increased or if in fact my biologic medication has been falsely lowing my TSH.
I understand all this and up until this test my TSH has always been low along with everything else… so my question is do you think it’s possible that a biologic drug can actually falsely lower my TSH and now that the medication isn’t working nearly as well to keep my immune system in check it’s revealing a higher TSH which maybe was always their? ….. I recall 2 weeks after I had my thyroidectomy and BEFORE I started my biologic my TSH was measured over 5 and when I did the thyroid test 8 weeks later my TSH was very low and the Endo at the time and everyone after him would tell me your perfect but of course I felt anything but perfect. Im also looking at recurrence but thats up in the air because every test reveals a different result .
Psoriatic arthritis is a product of psoriasis anyone who has psoriasis is 30% chance at developing psoriatic arthritis…. Which is the devil. If you have psoriasis your more likely to have thyroid disease.
Aside from your thyroid results queries, you mention an elevated creatinine level. Although a low-carb diet will hopefully slow the progression of your ckd, which you are fortunate to have had diagnosed in its initial stages, just be aware that many veggies and fruits, such as avocados, tomatoes and leafy green veggies can contain high levels of phosphorus and potassium, advisable to be limited in the case of ckd. However, this type of diet is designed to reduce inflammation, which has the bonus of obviously helping with inflammatory arthritic conditions such as yours. Grains are to be avoided, too, together with too much water, and strenuous exercise. Just keep an eye on it.
