I just had my thyroid labs done and just want some input …. Im on 100mcg T4 and 10mcg T3 …. 2 weeks ago I had Iron infusion almost 4 weeks on 50,000 Iu of Vitamin D once a week.
FT3: 3.0 (2.0-4.4) THIS NEVER CHANGES
FT4: 1.40 (0.82-1.77) this jumped up too
T3: 130 (71-180) this jumped up
TSH: 0.503 (.450-4.50) this has also jumped up .

I feel ok no better no worse … my heart rate has dropped a bit and my crazy body ache as not as bad … that could be the Vitamin D and Iron infusion…. Honestly I felt so bad for so long that I don’t know what normal is suppose to feel like.
One thing that is even more odd is my Kidney levels have improved a lot from 68 to 83 and my sugar levels have dropped so Im not sure why these improved.
Have you ever trialled an increase in Liothyronine? I found moving from 10 to 15mcg made a significant difference (taking 10mcg in the morning with Levo and an additional 5mcg in the afternoon).
was thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test
Yes I follow the testing protocol. Im assuming my Iron and Vitamin D is getting better but my B12 and folate were last tested in Jan the b12 was way over the range and folate was mid range so they didn’t test it this time. I think I will shoot off a message to Endo but Im worried he will say thats fine just reduce the Levo.
Amazing, these results show the iron infusion is helping make thyroid meds work better. You just need some of that improved level of T3 to become ‘free’ (active) which hopefully it will as all levels keep rising.
I would not adjust thyroid med dose at this stage but wait until the iron infusion has had a few more weeks to do even more good.
Ok.. This sounds like a good plan … One other noticeable improvement is my ability to stand longer than 5 mins and I can actually brush my hair it sounds silly but my hair goes to my mid back and it was hard to just brush it … also my hair has stopped shedding. So maybe just maybe as you said my thyroid levels will start improving.
Your improved kidney function and now being able to brush your hair evidences your thyroid hormones are already working better 👍. Progress or any changes can be very slow.
Most thyroid hormone is ‘bound’. It is another method of the body controlling saturation at tissue level and also prolongs the hormones half-life. The ‘freeing’ is controlled by multiple factors including protein transporters and adequate nutrients. Ensure you are eating enough protein to help form the protein transporters.
When you have enough protein transporters, enough thyroid hormone, enough iron & nutrients, other mechanisms will fall into place and the ‘freeing’ process should normalise.
Iron is used in the actual T4 to T3 conversion process, also some micronutrients - selenium, zinc, magnesium, so ensure you have enough of these too.
How lovely to have such long hair. My observations are a lack of iron induces hair shedding, and a lack of FT3 induces hair texture changes. I still remember the day I started T3 meds and very quickly experienced such immense positive changes in my hair.
