More thyroid lab and a rant....I want to give up!

I have battled for the past 4 years after my thyroidectomy to gain some resemblance of what I was prior to my surgery and Im seriously ready to just throw up a white flag and surrender because I just don’t know what else if anything I can do to try and right the wrong with my thyroid care.

I even hired a $400.00 and hour Endo top in his field and even this guy won’t do the standard thyroid test or a vitamin panel or basically won’t think beyond the damn TSH and because of having thyroid cancer I feel stuck... agh!

On top of having no thyroid I developed psoriatic arthritis after the thyroidectomy and then on top of that I take a biologic that I inject monthly to help the PSA which it doesn’t help much and causes other issues and one of those major issue is its makes me feel hyper and even that bounces me between feeling wired to having extreme exhaustion and it does this throughout the entire month ... rinse and repeat with the shot the following month then they add a thyroid test into this crazy ride which always comes back saying Im over medicated (Endos love the TSH ) which Im not because I feel 100% this immunological shot is causing this up and down feeling which messes with the thyroid test. I fast before test and take my meds afterwards.

Anyway, I received my Endos thyroid results as pathetic as they are... He test no vitamins (I'm anemic) he doesn’t test FT3 but normally test the T3 this time he didn’t 🤦🏻.

FT4 - 1.42 (0.82-1.77)

TSH- 0.225 (L) (0.450-4.50)

I find this whole thyroid health ridiculous and really needs a 100% overhaul of how they test and treat.... I fear my health is on a faster downward spiral and these doctors keep play games by pushing my problems on to other doctors.... My rheumatologist blames my Endo my Endo blames “everything “ but my lack of thyroid as a reason for my issues and my GP is useless and won’t touch my thyroid stuff.

Rant over!

Think you are in USA

Can you do full private testing yourself

I haven’t been able to figure out how I can do this and should really examine this better but it still can cause issues with getting medications he may not accept the results.

Sorry to hear you've been let down by the health system.

When I tested my bloods privately my doctor was negatively surprised and suspicious... but the results were alarming and, though they didn't accept the results ,they were 'inspired' to retest my bloods themselves as couldn't ignore the problem. There's nothing wrong seeking for 2nd, third forth opinion ( money permitting).

Wishing you well!x

Yeah thats why he doesn’t say too much about my TSH being so low but that also means he won’t adjust my meds except to keep rearranging my current meds which still doesn’t help.

I don't have anything helpful to post. But I really feel for you. You are being badly let down. Do you have to continue that injection? Could you try to get your thyroid straightened out without that in the way? I don't understand what it's for though, so I'm not advising you stop something But you could look into your options around it.

The injection is an immunosuppressive drug for my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and sadly I can not just stop injecting that would be disastrous for my skin and joints. It’s definitely a bad place to be.

I honestly don’t even think that the TSH is real on this lab simply because of this immunosuppressive injection causing me to swing between hyper and hypo .... its crazy this is what I went through when the thyroid cancer was first discovered and I was on a different biological medication then which also caused this up and down. I didn’t have a known thyroid issue so I never connected the dots.

I don't know anything about your injection for psoriatic arthritis but I have a friend who has it, so I understand it is unpleasant.

Iv had times of despair since my thyroid was removed in 2009. Xmas 2014 I didn't think I would live much longer. The last 6 years have been much better and more balanced but I still crash few times a year. When I feel really bad, I go back to basics. I strip my diet down to just eggs, chicken, fish, veg or salad. Check all vitamins levels and supplement, I concentrate on gentle walk or yoga, plenty of sleep and listen to positive affirmations, guided meditations for pain and anxiety, switch news off and look after myself. So my only suggestion is back to square one test and go from there.

I wasted 5 years of my life thinking my drs would get me well, it was a very miserable time. I am sending you love xx

Sure appreciate your post. Following as I have been told that I might need this done but every part of my being is reluctant to view this an an option. Reading your post was what I had feared. thanks for you rant.

Wish they were not so ready to do surgery nowadays with all this modern medicine, but then I am not a doctor. Do know that some doctors have different views on the subject especially when they are aiming at cancer cells.

Had a stroke years ago that I was not able to recover from due to circumstances that inhibited the necessary healing after the paralysis. That is why this thyroid surgery is really overwhelming as just another messed up disturbing quality of life.

You are so courageous. Wishing you luck in your recovery and to get your life back. Sending you as much positive energy as able.
