Hello, I was wondering if I could get some help with my test results. I can see I have elevated CRP which may be caused by my diabetes and it is something which was elevated about 3 years ago - cause unknown. Also I can see I have high antibodies - which was why I did a prvt test in the first place as I wanted to know if I had hashimotos. I have been told my TSH is ok for quite awhile now despite continuing to have many symptoms especially brain fog. Everything else is apparently ok according to this test...can anyone see otherwise?

I would be very grateful for any input 🙏

Welcome to the forum

What time of day did you get this test done?

Slightly Raised antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease, (also called Hashimoto’s) or raised antibodies suggests it likely at least

Is your diabetes type one (autoimmune?)

EDS and Hashimoto’s may be linked

There are few members with both on here

Are you currently taking any vitamin supplements, or are these levels natural

Many, many people with Hashimoto’s find strictly gluten free diet helps reduce symptoms

Poor gut function with Hashimoto’s can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten. Dairy is second most common.

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps, sometimes significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

While still eating high gluten diet ask GP for coeliac blood test first or buy test online for under £20, just to rule it out first

healthcheckshop.co.uk/store...?

Assuming test is negative you can immediately go on strictly gluten free diet

(If test is positive you will need to remain on high gluten diet until endoscopy, maximum 6 weeks wait officially)

Trying gluten free diet for 3-6 months. If no noticeable improvement then reintroduce gluten and see if symptoms get worse

Non Coeliac Gluten sensitivity (NCGS) and autoimmune disease

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/296...

The predominance of Hashimoto thyroiditis represents an interesting finding, since it has been indirectly confirmed by an Italian study, showing that autoimmune thyroid disease is a risk factor for the evolution towards NCGS in a group of patients with minimal duodenal inflammation. On these bases, an autoimmune stigma in NCGS is strongly supported

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/300...

The obtained results suggest that the gluten-free diet may bring clinical benefits to women with autoimmune thyroid disease

nuclmed.gr/wp/wp-content/up...

In summary, whereas it is not yet clear whether a gluten free diet can prevent autoimmune diseases, it is worth mentioning that HT patients with or without CD benefit from a diet low in gluten as far as the progression and the potential disease complications are concerned

restartmed.com/hashimotos-g...

Despite the fact that 5-10% of patients have Celiac disease, in my experience and in the experience of many other physicians, at least 80% + of patients with Hashimoto's who go gluten-free notice a reduction in their symptoms almost immediately.

Thyroid levels currently look pretty good, though Ft3 might be slightly low

Suggest you retest thyroid and vitamin levels again in 6-12 months

Ferritin is not brilliant.

You might want to look at increasing iron rich foods in

Hi Slow dragon

Thank you for the welcome and a very informative reply 🙏😊

I did a blue horizon home test and it was about 8.30am. I read a cpl of bits online so I stopped talking my vitamin b.complex about 3-4 days before hand and I hadn't taken thyroxine in 24 hrs.

I am technically a Diabetic type 1.5 (LADA) which is a slower forming type 1 and similarly is considered autoimmune.

That's really interesting about the link between EDS and Hashimotos - I hadn't heard that before but I'm not one bit surprised.

The vitamins I have been taking for awhile are vitamin B complex with magnesium (can't remember what type but the less absorbing one) and I take Ashwanga. They have made a difference to my energy and sleep. I try to take vitamin D but often forget 🙄 recently I started talking curcumin and magnesium gly but again I miss few days a WK lol.

I've had a coeliac test a few times but it's negative. I'm definitely non coeliac sensitivity and lots of intolerances and forever trying to stay away from certain things and then back on them again. It feels like a never ending battle there.

Thanks for the suggestions x

Hi there Soracha, I had a similar result with elevated CRP and raised it with my GP. Her response was a snort, and 'I have patients who have a CRP of 60'! I was taken aback and she reconsidered her response by saying CRP go up and down if you have a bug or mild inflammation. I was skeptical but a few weeks later I had another test and the CRP was normal. I didn't feel any different between those times, generally foggy, tired, hair loss ( I have Hashis) Hope this helps.
