Medichecks results - help in interpreting these please? Also do other people share these with their GPs and if so how does that go down??

Hello - after my disappointing dose increase of Levo of 25mg *every other day* following my last NHS blood test (3.79 - in range) but still having problems (mainly walking pain and need for long sleeps that I really don't have time for) I have now had my Medichecks results.

Not too bad but think I definitely will need more Levo?

I want to share these with my (reluctant to treat me) GP but don't want to alienate her by appearing 'pushy'. Not sure how others have fared doing this?

TSH 4.11 (0.27 – 4.2)

Free T3 3.99 (3.1 – 6.8)

Free Thyroxine 13.5 (12 – 22)

Thyroglobulin Antibodies - normal - 46.1 (0 – 115)

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 73.8 - a bit high - (0- 34)

Vitamins:

Ferritin – 83.1 (13 – 150) all good

Folate serum –16.98 (3.89 – 19.45) all good

B12 – >150 (37.5 – 187.5) all good

Vit D 74.9 (50 – 175) (maybe better higher?)

Low levels of inflammation

Currently taking 62.5mg daily by splitting the *tiny*!! 25mg pill

Am gluten free - have been for years. Not dairy free though and a bit reluctant to go down that route. Keep to a very low carb diet so cheese is quite important to me (and it's also yummy).

Thank you for your help :)

Jo

Suggest you see different GP

Standard starter dose of levothyroxine is 50mcg

TSH should be under 2 as an absolute maximum when on levothyroxine

gponline.com/endocrinology-...

Replacement therapy with levothyroxine should be initiated in all patients to achieve a TSH level of 0.5-2.0pmol/L.

New NHS England Liothyronine guidelines July 2019 clearly state on page 13 that TSH should be between 0.4-1.5 when OPTIMALLY treated with just Levothyroxine

Note that it says test should be in morning BEFORE taking levothyroxine

Also to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

sps.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploa...

Dose is increased slowly upwards in 25mcg steps

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after EACH dose increase

GP has agreed to raise the Levo to 75mg and 50mg alternate days.

Sorry misunderstood the small increase

dose increase of Levo of 25mg *every other day

Obviously you need to increase to 75mcg every day

Plus improving vitamin D to at least around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better
