Help! Please could anyone advise me on what to do next. I don’t seem to be able to tolerate Levothyroxine or NDT or T3! I’ve recently tried NDT but could only increase to 1 grain and no further as my hypothyroid symptoms were so bad I couldn’t function.
My latest blood results are:-
FT4 - 16.4 (12-22)
FT3- 4.2 (3.10-6.80)
TSH - 0.13 (0.2- 4.20)
Ferritin - 46 (13-150)
Iron - 15.17 (5.80-34.50)
Folate - 12.5 (3.89-26.80)
Vit D - 64.7 (50-200)
B12 - 63.3 (37.5-188)
TgAb - 21.5 (0-115)
TPOAb - 13.4 (0-34)
My TSH always seems to go low very quickly when I’m taking thyroid medication and for me personally I feel worse when it’s not around 1.
I’m currently supplementing with Iron, vit D, b12 and selenium. I’m focusing on increasing my iron/ferritin levels in the hope that I can tolerate thyroid medication better.
I have no support from any doctor and feel very low. Any advice greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Hi, Often when one is unable to increase thyroid meds it is due to an adrenal insufficiency.... like putting high octane gas into a clunker car. Here is some information and simple home tests that can indicate whether the adrenal fatigue question should be pursued. I have never had an adrenal problem so can only share what I have read and learned over the years. It is a shame that more doctors aren't better trained in spotting and treating adrenal problems.
hmmm... I am surprised also but, it is good that you had the test. We seem to end up doing a lot of detective work to find the answer to our problems. Some of your numbers, tho within range, are still on the low side (D3, B 12). So maybe when those numbers are optimal, you will be able to increase. Good luck.
Hi its sad that GPs have lost interest in problem solving all too common and unnaceptable. Have you checked RT3 and TBG. Also if you take hrt this will increase tbg effectively binding thyroid hormone making things very difficult. Thats my issue and still trying to sort out on my own.
