Hi

The past year I have been suffering with hives which mainly come when out in the cold. I have seen and immunologist and he did lots of tests. Gave me anti histamines.

In the summer I stopped all supplements to see if it had any effect on the hives but as we had such a good summer I did not get them, but now it is cold I have had a few on my hands.

I have read hives can be associated with been hypo. but not sure if cold urticaria is.

Anyway back to my thyroid. In July whilst taking my supplements and 150mcg. levo. I had my levels checked. (levo had been increased to 150mcg from 125mcg. 8 weeks previously)

Still getting the panic attacks when on my own in open spaces and the last few weeks I have been more tired with more aches and pains and carpel tunnel when in bed

As expected all my Vitamins have dropped and Vit D below range, but thyroid levels not too bad, a but puzzled my FT4 dropping but FT3 increasing.

I obviously need to restart my supplements and will start with Vit D then add in B12 and B complex.

Can anyone please advise on how much I should take of each and if should increase my levo.

Many thanks.

Your FT3 increased when you reduced the levo because with a lower FT4, you convert better. When your FT4 was over-range, you were converting to more rT3 than T3. Reducing the levo improved your conversion to T3. I don't see how you can easily increase your levo by very much. You reduced it by 18 mcg, and the FT3 rose. Can you increase it by 5 mcg, or something equally low? I don't know what size tablets you have. If you can't do that, then it's best to leave it as it is and add in a little T3 to raise your FT3, if that's what you want.

Many thanks for your reply greygoose.

I do have some 50 mcg, levo. which I cut in half.

I take 125mcg. 5 days and 150mcg. 2 days.

I could add another 25mcg. one day and see how I go.

greygoose, I just realised I took my levo. the day before my blood test in the afternoon.

For some reason I forgot to take it in the morning.

I took blood at 8.40am. so from last dose of levo. to the test was approx. 17 hours.

Do you think it would make much difference to the results.

Thank you.

Not an awful lot, no. But, which test?

The thyroid levels.

Yes, but the November test or the July test?

Sorry,

the November test.

As a rule I usually leave 24 hours from taking last dose of levo. to having the blood test.

The November one I only left approx. 17 hours from last dose to having the blood taken.

OK :) So, your result there was so very high that I don't think leaving 24 hours instead of 17 would have made much difference. It would still be right at the top of the range, and affecting your conversion. :)
