Make sure that your Folic Acid is not synthetic. Look into the MTHFR genetic issues and you will understand. You may not have an issue with synthetic, but many people do, and it goes undetected. Easy test to do.
Yes Clutter that is true now. I am in the US, and do not know the UK regulations. Until recently in the US natural Folic acid could be purchased, but the pharmaceutical industry got into it a patented it. Green leafy vegetables are excellent, and avoid the synthetic. You have to check labels because it is in a lot of prepared foods and vitamins. Good vitamins in the US now have metholated forms of the B's.
I hold vile tasting tablets in my teeth to avoid tasting them and wash them down with a mouthful of liquid. Washing iron down with orange juice will disguise the taste, aid absorption and minimise constipation.
6,000iu D3 is a good dose for vitD 58.5. I'd take it for 6 weeks then reduce to 3,000iu and retest in May.
There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.
Really fed up can I please ask why you recommend taking cod liver oil instead of vitamin D I also have hashimotos under active thyroid my vitamin D is 48.I apologize for hijacking this post .
Umm let's see, all your levels are rock bottom. Plus you say you have hashimotos, a few things spring to mind, hashimotos is indicative of candida overgrowth, all your nutrients as said are rock bottom, these nutrients require healthy levels of stomach acid, and healthy bacteria. So put simply I'd say your low in stomach acid, and have Candida overgrowth. If this is the case reverse the candida repopulate the healthy bacteria, and build stomach acid levels back up and bye bye hashimoto...
The only other critter involved with hashimotos I know of at the min is EBV either one could have emigrated to the thyroid hence hashimotos. Hope that helps
