Nutrimeds supplements

Hello everyone,

Would anyone like to weigh in on whether Nutri Meds out of California really have the thyroid hormones of T4 and T3 in their supplements. Claim they are sourced from New Zealand. Been on 130 capsules for awhile now but just want to be sure.. any opinions ?

Nobody would be able to tell you because glandulars are sold as supplements with no declared hormone content. Glandulars are not intended to treat disease. All people can do is guess.

Theoretically, even if glandulars did contain some hormone, their hormone content most likely would not be standardised so could vary a lot, from some hormone to no hormone.

Funny thing is my knees and joint pain better and my left foot lymphodema is lessening .. so maybe there is a smidgeon of the hormones in NM. I have had umpteen conversations with them and told not to take more than 5 of the capsules as it would be too much of the hormone. Also told to take Adrenal Cortex in addition to the 130 mg caps per day....but not to exceed 5 caps of bovine

thanks for ALL the input.. so helpful.. better than STTM a little bit...

Forgot to say I take two of the 130 mgs... one right at arising and one in the PM to ward off the afternoon snoozies...

One of the ways to know, is testing before you start a product then after being on it a while, as well as how you feel

I take a glandular called Metavive. It works. My numbers say so. My improved symptoms say so. The way I sleep so much better these days, says so

Correct, the manufacturer doesn’t declare the hormone content in order to protect its OTC status. I find Metavive consistent in that I take the same dose every day at more or less the same time and feel the same effects. I can’t speak for NutriMed because I’ve never used it but if you notice symptoms improving that’s a clue but to actually prove it to yourself so that you can be reassured, you can buy a test. I don’t know what it’s like in the US but here we have several reliable companies that many forum members buy and rely on. I always test after a few weeks if I’ve had cause to alter my dose

Good luck

In truth, they’re not allowed to declare the amount of T4 and T3 in their product, because if they did, they’d have to conform to incredibly strict pharmaceutical manufacturing standards and protocols. They’d need a licence that it appears they’re not prepared to get (bit of a red flag there). So they can’t.

And because they can’t say, we as potential consumers don’t know either whether there’s ANY active thyroid product in those pills.

Given your recently posted results, it doesn’t look very likely that there’s much thyroid hormone in that product, does it?

Yes, I agree... however I have been taking a compounded one from NY with the hormones but the filler I am allergic to... so now I have been adding selenium to my concoction.. so far temp starting to go up to 97 degrees and at times slightly above to almost 98.6...

A compounded what? Version of NDT?

jmrs11 profile image
jmrs11 in reply toJazzw

I take a compounded thyroid from a pharmacy in the states. contains the hormones of T4 and T3... since I am allergic to some fillers being a celiac it is filled with WRF...

Ah, that’s very different to Nutri Meds. That’s probably why it’s working!

Also, does anyone know if WP Thyroid will ever come back from RLC labs outside of Phoenix, AZ... caught by the FDA for sub potency in the capsules due to customer complaints nationwide..

Jazzw in reply tojmrs11

I don’t think so. Which makes me very sad as I used to take Nature Throid and it suited me so well.

I know..WP for me was great!!.For some reason Synthyroid ceased working after 20 + years on it..

Don't know why though...🙃

One more thing..my tinnitus comes and goes only in right ear...Is it diet related, allergy related or hypo related?..Will look back in my journal ..

Keep a comprehensive one...temp., diet, meds, body, tinnitus, etc..

Jazzw in reply tojmrs11

It could be hypo related—some people say it improved when they found the right level of thyroid hormones. But tinnitus is one of those funny things isn’t it? Had it on and off my whole life, since childhood, long before I knew it had a name! And I still have it coming and going - being on optimal dose of thyroid hormones doesn’t seem to make any difference for me.

Thanks much for responding..

I used to take them years ago and found them good. They were then banned from sale in Europe and UK, and I assumed this was because they refused to say that they DIDN'T contain any hormone - but that's not the same thing as saying they DO contain hormones.

I do wonder as what I order is pretty affordable considering the bovine source is so far away...When I research thyroid supplements on line NM is never mentioned.

Only way to find out efficacy of all is blood tests..

C doc in May. On the 9th...

If you're feeling better, your body is saying "yes" to the ingredients.

New Zealand is not a country known for people who pursue profit at any cost to the world. That they tell you not to take too many supports the idea that there is actual bovine gland in the capsule/tablet. That they tell you not to take more than five per day is based on (1) they are not permitted to dispense medical advice and (2) you could take up to five and not have too much. Your body would adapt to the dose over a course of months, until you top out and then feel that you've got too much.

Have you ever been prescribed NP Thyroid? This is likely what the endocrinologist would prescribe if you haven't thrived on levothyroxine. Fingers crossed the long wait is worth it to get a great doctor.

Thanks for input. Being a celiac I am allergic to all binders and fillers. This is why I order capsules then open them into a small cup of water. I am taking a compounded one with ginger as a filler but getting diarrhea and nausea. Did white rice powder before but still a reaction. Then did cinnamon as a filler but same reaction. Then did Loxoral as a filler then baking soda. Wrote a letter to the pharmacist asking if it is really that necessary to cap off /fill the capsule with a filler. It was too much to discuss on the phone. Can I just open it and take the pure porcine?..Waiting for a reply by phone, em or letter.

Too bad about RLC Labs in Arizona. So I am back to 130mgs of N M 2x / day with some liquid Selenium mixed in. Temp varies thru out day..this journey tiring..total thyroid removal in 1992 due to cancer...so far so good...so lifelong meds for me..be 78 in July...told I could pass for Sophia Lorens twin..!!..😀
