Yet another blood tests results

Hi guys,

after my concerns with previous blood results (from endo), I went to see my new GP and asked if any of it can be addressed. Initially I found her to be more perceptive than any other doctor before. After showing her my results and describing my symptoms she ordered her own blood tests altogether with Celiac and pernicious anemia screening. Unfortunately despite her special request not all tests have been performed (which she told me lab might ignore).

The results indicate clearly something is going on. She admitted despite most levels being within its range they are low and further investigation is needed. She hasn't prescribed anything as yet (not happy about that) and told me to sit tight till she hears back from the specialist.

Currently I'm on 2000IU vitamin D and vitamin B complex.

Below are results:

- Vitamin B12: 277 ng/L [160 - 800]

- Vitamin D: 57.8 nmol/L [70 - 150] - Below low reference limit

- Ferritin: 19 ng/ml [10 - 120]

- Folate: 9.4 ng/ml [> 2.7]

- Serum tissue transglutaminase level - Negative for IgG and IgA tissue transglutaminas

Let us know what the specialist says. Have you got another apt booked with the GP to find out?

No, I have not. She told me to sit tight and wait for the phone call (exact words).

That's a bit vague isn't it? Your iron is low but your doctor must be being cautious due to the liver results being slightly high. What specialist is she consulting? If you haven't heard in a week I think I'd make a telephone consultation to make sure you don't go to the bottom of the pile!

She mentioned the specialist, I think she did but I'm not sure now

(my memory isn't that great), probably at the hospital the blood was tested. And I saw her on Friday.

Try not to worry. Retesting isn't unusual to check the results are correct and not a hiccup in the machine. She sounds as though she will get it sorted and better than ignoring the fact as some try to do but let us know how you get on

Thank you silverfox7, I get slightly paranoid when I see abnormal results, especially when I don't feel well and I don't really trust doctors since they've been ignoring me a lot.
