As per a recommendation from two members on this fantastic forum in my previous post

HAEMATOLOGY

FOLATE (SERUM) 18.74 ug/L 2.91 - 50.00

BIOCHEMISTRYInflammation Markers

Iron Status

FERRITIN 300 ug/L 30.00 - 400.00

I must say though, since stopping my levothyroxine and changing the foods I eat I feel better In myself.

I still feel the cold, have dry skin and hair seems to be thinning. And I still have random head and body feelings.

But In brief, the consultant basically said that all is fine, TSH is in the upper half of the range, and recommend that people feel better when it’s below 2?

All Vitamins are good too apparently.

You need a good B12 and B multivitamin

Why on earth have you stopped taking your Levothyroxine? This is not a medication bug a replacement hormone

Had you stopped taking when this test was done and if so how long beforehand?

Your TSH is too high, and your FT4 too low

Have you had vitamin D tested?

If not can get for £28 postal kit

I was advised by my doctor...I'd stopped taking it around 3/4 weeks ago. and had the test done thursday.

Vitamin D was not included in the test i paid for

Suggest you repeat the test or get GP to do so in a further 6 weeks, or sooner if you start to feel worse

How long have you been taking Levo?

Usually it's for life, very very rare to be able to stop taking it

GP's don't always know much about thyroid disease.

Levothyroxine is not like antibiotics where you take it until results are normal then stop. The Thyroid blood results only improve because you take and continue to take the thyroid hormones daily.

What were your previous results before stopping

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after.

As Skeptical says you need to improve low B12 and folate

When you start taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Vitamins are all likely to get worse the longer you are not on Levo, assuming your TSH rises

Im off to see and Endo in under 2 weeks, so they will be able to advise me better than my doctor i guess and also suggest a new blood test.

I had been taking 100mcg Levo from January to April and reduced to 75mcg until September.

My previous test were inconclusive as they never tested the entire range, See below.

Thyroid function test

Serum TSH level 0.01 mu/L [0.3 - 5.0]

Below low reference limit

Serum free T4 level 12.0 pmol/L [7.9 - 16.0]

TSH is largely irrelevant when taking Levo

FT4 was low in range indicating under medicated

You would need FT3 tested at same time as FT4

B12 and folate low which will be hindering thyroid hormones being used

Plus your vitamin D likely too low

You might want to get that tested before seeing endo

Most endo's have zero interest in vitamins

And possibly consider DIO2 gene test (not available on NHS)
