Just been treated for h pylori. Drs, endo and derm say my thyroid is fine. They only did the basic test. Endo saw the antibody results as i emailed them to him said wouldnt cause my hair loss.

Symptoms:

2 years hair loss and actual hairs are thinning everywhere. The loss is diffuse eyebrow eyelashes arms underarms legs pubic fingers. ( hair loss is why i am depressed)

Occasional brusing on legs

Intermittent drooping upper eyelid

Sweating less

Ridges on nails have improved not as prominent.

Ferritin was 70 a month ago i stoppes supplementing while getting the h pylori treatment. It has dropped 20 in a month. I have restarted floradix as of two days ago.

Just been treated for h pylori. Suffering the stomach pain the same length of time as the hair loss. I assume my neutrophils are low because of antibitotics for 2 weeks.

Would stimach pain /h pylori for 2 years cause raised tsh? And affect rt3 i read it should be above 20. Do you think with h pylori eradication my results might improve?

I am taking probiotics selenium zinc multivitamin floridix omega 3 vit d c e b12 folate and minerals all to try and help this. Any advise please. My hair fall and thinning is the biggest worry. I did have stressors 2 years ago weightloss of a stone in week and month of excess stress then mass hair fall 3 months later. But it has gone on for 2 years now and all body parts affected. Hair thinning never mind just fallin out regrowth few/litte and it is thin. Derm says telogen but all say thyroid is fine. What do i need to do. Going to retest thyroid n month to see if the hpylori treatment has had impact. Desp for advice. Get none from drs.

No drs all say i am fine. That tsh is fine. I know it needs to be 1 -2. It has been 2.1 and 2.4 but also 3.6 and 5. Tested 4 times with basic tsh and ft4 with dr and once privately for the full panel. They refused thr full panel

Jump1 Can you add the reference ranges to the results please. Ranges vary from lab to lab so we can't interpret test results unless your lab's ranges are given. You can edit your post by clicking on the down arrow V below your message, choose EDIT, make changes then click the green EDIT RESPONSE button.

I'm afraid we need the ranges for those results, otherwise, they're more or less meaningless, as every lab has it's own range.

However, your TSH is too high.

Do you actually have a diagnosis of hypo? If not, you won't get one with these results, because I'm pretty sure they are in-range. That's why your doctor says you're 'fine'. They don't understand the subtleties of thyroid hormones! Your B12 is good, but your ferritin looks low. And, that's all I can say without more information and the ranges. :)

Your peroxidase antibodies are above range, this gives definite diagnosis of autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto's

Hashimoto's very often affects the gut, leading to low stomach acid, low vitamin levels and leaky gut.

Low vitamins that affect thyroid are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. If they are too low they stop Thyroid hormones working.

With Hashimoto's it is very likely hidden food intolerances can be causing issues, most common by far is gluten.

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms. Very, very many of us here find it really helps and can slowly lower antibodies.

Essential to check your vitamin D - extremely common to be too low

hypothyroidmom.com/92-of-ha...

If GP won't can test via postal kit viramindtest.org.uk £28

essential to avoid all supplements with iodide in with Hashimoto's

Multivitamins generally not a good idea with Hashimoto's but especially if has iodine in

Ferritin is low, this can cause hair loss

So can low zinc

Good idea to supplement vitamin C for adrenals and this often comes with zinc

H pylori is linked to Hashimoto's

Will i get medication from dr for it? What medication can they give?

What about h pylori eradication do you think if it is removed will it reduce them below the range?

How long would it take me to get below the range do you think when it is 43?

I was taking iodine what does it do?

Will it have caused my tsh to increase to the level it is at?

I drink a pint of milk every day for 38 years. And eat cereal every day. It has never made ne feel unwell.

I have never felt unwell until this stomach pain which turns out to be h pylori

You need to read up and learn about Hashimoto's. Doctors dont often understand it

No they don't treat Hashimoto's, only give replacement thyroid hormones once TSH goes too high

Hashimoto's often makes us gluten intolerant.

You may not be aware of gluten causing problems at all, but avoiding it completely may lower the antibodies slowly

Improving vitamin levels of vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 is essential if they are too low

How does gluten make you feel? My sis is a dr and she said there was nothig wrong with me results. I knew there was a problem. I have been reading up on it. When i got the results that made me test for h pylori. It came back positive. And i have had antibiotic treatment for it. Started taking probiotics aloe vera juice and mastic gum. Will stop with the multivitamin now. I am hoping that it will reduce my antibodies 4 weeks till i check. But would it also cause your tsh to be high?

Will they not give me t3? I really want my hair back. This is what has ruined the past 2 years for me.

I dont eat much gluten based foods other than my cereal. I rarely if ever eat bread or buns or cakes.

If gluten is an issue you have to avoid it absolutely 100% all the time

Suggest you Try it for 3-6 months

Read all the links

Removing gluten can help gut heal

If you improve your vitamin levels with supplements then either you will just start feeling better or if Thyroid is failing then TSH may increase enough that you can start on Levo (T4)

Always get all thyroid tests done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH

Yeah. I knew that about tsh and fasting. I will try it gluten free after i test the thyroid again.

I want to see what impact the h pylori treatment made first. All my problems started with that pain. I asked the dr 2 years ago if it was connected they said no.

I had perfect hair normal sweating before that, and it was caused i reckon by enormous stress for a month and sudden weightloss of stone in a week. I reckon both of them gave the h oylori an opportunity to grow.

Is t3 not what is required for hair growth? Would t3 not lower tsh?

Going to be slightly gruesome here.

Since the h pylori treatment and probiotics my bowel movements have improved. Not constipated any more no loose bowel movements.

And the bowel movement sinks doesnt float or stick to toilet anymore. It is pretty much the proper shape and colour that it should be.

I think but am not sure that my hair loss on head at least has slowed down.

But only been short while cannot be sure or maybe just going through a good spell until it starts again. I can def be sure about the hair growth though. There has been nothing. Legs, pubic arms underarm eyebrows eyelashes all as bad as ever less hair than ever before.

I wonder if anyone knows if h pylori raises tsh levels? I know there are reports about it raising the antibodies.

In ferrets/animals h pylori causes hair loss and poor coat. When removed it improves. I wonder if it affects their coat and fur because it affects their thyroids. Do animals even have thyroids?

Just trying to fig out if it is linked to it. It all started around then.

Just washed my hair again and about 30 hairs came out not in hands but from brushing. They came out because they have been so thinned over the last 2 years. Normally hair just falls out and i have a hell of alot more coming out than that. I have washed my hair about 6 times since the treatment and 6 times the loss has been better the last 2 years. Each hair in my head is sooooo badly thinned. The improvement in hair loss from head so far since treatment and probiotics has been really good. I need regrowth to start and hair to thicken.
