hello,

i have since late last year had many symptoms of hypothyroid. the usual weight gain ,brain fog, extreme fatigue, dry hair, brittle nails, eyebrows thinning on one end, numerous aches and pains in joints etc etc. Gp said stress no bloods necessary! so at the end of january 2017 in desperation i had full bloods done privately.

tsh 3.16 0.27-4.20

t4 total 120.6 64.5-142

free t4 18.61 12-22

free t3 5.42 3.1-6.8

anti-thyroidperoxidase abs 311.1 <34

anti-thyroglobulin abs 636.2 <115

test suggested hashimotos or graves according to the lab.

went back to gp who refered me to endocrinology.who did an assesment and took more bloods end of march 2017.

tsh 2.14 0.27-4.20

free t4 14.1 12-22

free t3 4.8 3.1-6.8

anti-thyroidperoxidase abs 629 <34

trabs - raised

no answers as yet and no treatment offered just the wait and see approach. my next appointment is in three weeks time for bloods and see the consultant.

can anyone offer me any help and advice and what should i be pushing the endos to do???

also have been on b12 , iron , folate, d3 for four years prior to all this but levels at last test this year were ;

b12 305 >250 sufficient

vit d 75.8 > 75 sufficient (after loading dose 2 months previously level at 50 then)

others not tested.

What questions should i be asking?

many thanks

The antibodies show you have Hashimotos ,going gluten free helps some folk.

Your B12 would be better over 500. I think D3 should be nearer 100 but others may know more.

Ask for a three month trial on Levothyroxine .

thank you for your reply Treepie. hospital and doctors have told me virtually nothing. I have been reading about going gluten free so will try this as soon as my next bloods have been taken and will see if i can get gp to up the b12 prescription.

hi reallyfed up123, thanks for the reply. my clinic appointment is at 4.30pm they only do an afternoon clinic in my region so bloods taken late in the day every time. i will though try my best to insist on the levothyroxine trial. see what they say. the lady doc is reasonable to talk to so anything is worth a try. Feeling desperate and helpless really and after months of waiting to get to the appointment. need to make the most i can from it. i feel double my age with this problem
