Hi.
I don't think there is a definitive answer to my question, but any suggestions muchly appreciated
For many months after being diagnosed hypo, I was taking 25mcg of Levo. I knew nothing about the condition at that time and accepted that my GP would be keeping an eye on things... Eventually, I had some blood tests - at my instigation - and Levo was raised to 50mcg. Within a week or two, I began getting palpitations - ectopic beats. I persevered for a few weeks, but then decided, after reading some of Dr Lowe's research papers, that I would go down the NDT route. At that point my numbers were pretty bad - TSH 11.
I stopped taking Levo for two weeks, during which palps continued. Then I started a gradual process of introducing NDT (Thyro-Gold). That was three months ago. The palps have continued throughout this time. My numbers are great now. I will append my last tests just for info.
TSH 0.358 (0.27-4.20)
Free T4 15.37 (12.00-22.00)
Free T3 5.46 (3.10-6.80)
All my mins and vits are pretty-good.
I did have a cortisol saliva test two weeks ago - 3 of the 4 results were below range.
I'm interested if anyone has had a similar experience, or can suggest possible reasons for the palps. I realise that it's a tall order, but hey, one never knows...
For added info. I have had two cardio appointments in the last week. The cardio did and ECG and Echocardiogram. His words: 'There is nothing wrong with your heart'. Nonetheless, I do have to wear a monitor for 24 hours at the end of the week.
I have pondered this for a while now. The only thing that strikes me is Levo is T4 and there is T4 in Thyro-Gold. Is this an allergy issue?
Sorry for the long post, I'm in quite a good place, but the palps do get to you after a while.
Many thanks x
