Heart palps and confusion about levels

I developed hashis and hypo over the past two years. My hair has fallen horribly since then. I did 3 mos of levo, switched endos. Second endo gave me 90mg NP thyroid (NDT) and I felt better. I have been on this 7 mos. My hair shedding had a tiny bit of improvement, but still falls (was extremely thick before).

My last labs in February were as follows:

TSH 0.549 (0.400-4.1)

Free T4 0.93 (0.80-1.90)

Free T3 3.1 (2.2- 4.2)

My endo wouldn't increase my meds, but my general doc prescribed 25mg of sythroid to try and raise my frees. I only took it 3 days because I had bad heart palpitations. I stopped and the heart palps continued for another 3 weeks. I was confused because I figured they would go away since I had previously been fine for 6 months on the 90mg of NP thyroid. I went back to the doc and this time we tried 15 mg more of my NDT (totaling 105). My heart palps continue, although I seem to have a normal body temp. I have been on this extra dose for 5 weeks.

I have been alternating my extra dose every other day for the past week, and no real improvements. I want to be optimal, but apparently I can't go up on NDT without feeling this way. What is the alternative? Going down on NDT and maybe adding t3 alone? btw, I've now lost half my hair (diffuse loss). My iron and vit d are fine

What about your vitamin levels

Important to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin. Very common for these to be low and may need supplementing. Essential to test first

Low ferritin is linked to hair loss

Have you had your adrenal function tested? If you have high or low cortisol you will, find it very difficult to raise your NDT to optimal levels.

Thanks! I didn't know that could affect it. I go in Wed to go over new labs which should have them included

My sympathy for you . I know exactly how you feel . When I was on Synthroid it caused me palpitations too . Ask your Dr to switch you to another brand of Levo . Fillers in Synthroid can cause palpitations for some of us . Have your ferritin levels checked to . If low it can cause palpitations too . Nutrients like selenium ,B-12 /folate, Vitamin "D" magnesium .

I highly recommend that you check out Excellent posts by *SeasideSusie* on vitamins and more .

Also check out Great post on going Gluten Free by *SlowDragon* .

Thank you. I am on NDT only, but seem to be out of whack from those 3 days of synthroid. Ferritin and vit d are fine, and I am gluten and dairy free. I will have my selenium checked
