Speckles70,

High ferritin indicates you have inflammation somewhere in the body possibly due to a cold or virus at the time of testing as CRP, which is also an inflammation marker, is low.

You should retest 6-8 weeks after increasing to 50mcg. TSH >10 is high because FT4 is low. You will probably need dose increasing to 75mcg or even 100mcg. The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 1.0 or lower with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_...

Thyroid antibodies are negative for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's).

B12 is low. You could ask your GP to test Intrinsic Factor Antibodies to rule out pernicious anaemia before supplementing 1,000mcg methylcobalamin and a B complex vitamin. Alternatively ask for advice on healthunlocked.com/pasoc

Folate is good.

thank you for this. I have a lot of pain in spine, hips, knees and feet so guessing that will b inflammation. Although these are been treated as separate conditions my all over pain as reduced since taking levo so hoping this may reduce more as dose increases.

thanks x

Speckles70,

No, you've have the other recommended tests. I suggest vitD because it's typically low in hypothyroid patients and low/deficient levels can cause significant joint and bone pain.

I shall definitely ask for vit d. Can u advise if I should take seluium and magnesium to aid thyroid function and which is best if so please?

Speckles70,

There different minerals. 200mcg Selenium is very thyroid friendly and may help improve function. Magnesium can improve muscle aches, twitches and cramps.

Speckles70,

Make sure it is magnesium citrate as mag. oxide isn't much cop. You can also use magnesium oil spray on aching muscles and take Epsom Salt baths.
