Hi, I take 125mcg Levo and 10mcg T3, do I need supplementing in any vitamins or minerals? I did so some time before but I am not entirely sure if I need to do this again.

June 16:

Serum ferritin - 146 (15 - 150)

- That is fine at the moment, you don't want it any higher.

Serum vitamin B12 - 611 (191 - 663) - Although at the top of the range, the Pernicious Anaemia Society recommend 1000. As it was lower in April I'd be inclined to take a maintenance dose of Jarrows or Solgar sublingual methylcobalamin lozenges 1000mcg.

Serum folate - 6.4 (4.6 - 18.7)

- very low, needs to be at least half way through range. If you supplement with B12 you should also take a B Complex. Thorne Basic B is a very good one which has good bioavailability and contains 400mcg folate which will help. I took one a day and it increased my folate from the same as your present level to top of range in less than three months. I now take a supplement with 200mcg folate as maintenance.

Total OH vitamin D - 58.3 - this needs to be around 100+ so if you aren't already supplementing then you need D3, and because Vit D aids absorption of calcium you need K2 to direct the calcium to bones and teeth rather than arteries and soft tissues.

Getting them all to optimal levels will help your thyroid hormone to work properly.
