Doing the rounds of doctors again.
Early last month I went to Japan and met my daughter who's living over there. As we set off I was getting quite short of breath and my daughter (who is a doctor) started quizzing me as to why I was short of breath. I did try to brush it off-saying I was old and unfit but she kept persisting and told

Traditional Mediterranean diet and warfarin
I am 5 weeks post mechanical valve replacement. I'm on 8/7 alternating warfarin. I am 26 and was brought up on a Mediterranean diet which I have not been following since discharge because I have been avoiding the higher vitamin K foods. I have also been eating much more meat and high protein food than

Why Do I pain in my left ribs?
I would like to thank the BHF Nurse that actually took the bother to call me after I emailed for help and advice, she was very empathetic and gave me good advice about keeping a record of my blood pressure’s and taking it in the morning when I get up after I’ve pottered about but before any medication

heart bypass
just wondering how long people’s heart bypasses have lasted? I had a double bypass twenty one years ago and a stent fitted three years ago, all seems well up to now.

Ezetimibe
Has everybody experienced any side effects on Ezetimibe. My mam was prescribed this in March 2022 after suffering serious side effects on statins. Following a successful miteral valve op and single by pass in December, all the same symptoms are coming to a head again. Pains in hips and legs, cramps,

Alcoholism
Hi.Another member from the mental support forum suggested joining. My alcoholism came on quite suddenly, just after my Father passed away on 04/04/2022. Then 1 month later I had to have a heart operation. Since then my life has literally fallen apart. I used to be very physically active, dinghy

Update post op
Hi all Friday will make me 4 weeks post op avr. On the whole doing great, walking 5/6k a day breathing greatly improved. However I have developed a bit of a cough which is causing me extreme pain, almost as if I have broken my ribs. Has anyone else experienced this after Heart surgery and do you think

My First Pacemaker Followup
Today was my first real follow up with my EP since the fitting of my pacemaker and AV node ablation done on February 13 and 27th. I have not been feeling 100% although much much better than before all of this. I guess I expected more not realizing other things are in play with me and it’s not just

Should I be concerned about lower resting HR on bisoprolol?
I had my first recorded (though probably 3rd in 3 years) AF incident on Sunday and have got 1.25mg of bisoprolol and 5 mg x 2 pd of apixaban. I am a runner so my resting overnight HR is usually low, say mid 40s. My heart returned to its normal rhythm on Sunday night after about 19 hours in AF. So now

feeling very down
hi all, I posted on here some weeks ago when I felt that the combination of infliximab infusions and leflunomide was no longer working and I was hopeful my rheumatologist would change my medication. I live in Guernsey so only see her occasionally when she flies across. I honestly don’t feel like anyone

Feeling low after stopping meds.
Hi all, I have had AF for 13 years following death of first husband. Have been on a beta blocker for that long, and then flecainide was added about 7 years ago. I had a cardiac ablation in October 22. After 4 months I came off flec slowly over 5 weeks then stopped metoprolol . It is now 5 weeks

Erythritol has been linked to blood clotting, stroke, heart attack and death
Purified stevia leaf extracts (Truvia, PureVia, others) use this artificial sweetener and I was wondering how this would affect those on blood thinners, like Warfarin, who must maintain a certain pro time level. There was a study done in Cleveland and reported widely with some unexpected results. I

Stents - how many?
My father turned 80 last month and has 6 stents in his heart currently. His first very mild heart attack occurred in 2010 and since then over the years, he's had further mild episodes where he had to have these other stents put in. He has also type 2 diabetes since around 2000 and although this has been

Ticagrelor
I was prescribed Ticagrelor following open heart surgery in October. Last week I was hospitalised urgently suffering from Melena (black and tarry stools) caused by internal bleeding. Has anyone else had this? Please.

Puzzling symptoms while exercising beyond 20 minutes!
Hi everyone, I am a 42 year old man, always very slim and active, non-smoker, hoping to get your opinions about some puzzling symptoms I have been experiencing while doing moderate exercise (jogging fairly leisurely on treadmill). These manifest as a kind of unsteady, mildly dizzy "need-to-stop" kind
