IDS claims he can live on £53 a week.
By last night almost 300,000 people had signed an online petition challenging Mr Duncan Smith to survive on £53 a week, or £7.57 a day, after he insisted he could "if I had to". It was set up when David Bennett, a market trader, told BBC Radio 4 that the sum was all he had to live on after his housing

Where are the hospital gowns?
Hi - I was very surprised yesterday that I didnt have to change into a hospital gown for the Gastroscopy! I kept all my ordinary clothes on. When I had a barium swallow recently, I had to change into a gown. I wonder if it's the new way of doing things? I would have thought a gown would have been appropriate

Constant temperature at home?
I've now received my leaflets/booklets from BLF and this caught my eye - keep your home at a constant temperature. Do people do this? Has it helped? What temperature do you heat your home to (I know personal comfort is an individual thing but I'd be interested to know)? Do you keep the

'Emotional' type stress
Hi all Does anyone else struggle with an increase in some symptoms when experiencing emotional trauma? I'm living with difficult family circumstances which have been going on for some time. After yet another difficult weekend, for the first time ever, I've called in sick at work, feel incredibly sad

My Neurology Appointment Didn't Go So Well This Week.
But I wasn't surprised, either. My existing symptoms seem to be escalating i.e. loss of balance and falls, and a few new ones that have snuck in there that concerned me. Such as the amount of times I've aspirated over the last several weeks. 1/2 a dozen maybe? Maybe it sounds like little to those

OxyNorm and Tramadol
Do OxyNorm and Tramadol combine effectively? For instance, if I want to top up the OxyNorm but don't want to go the whole hog of having another OxyNorm would a 50mg Tramadol be ok for breakthrough pain?

Barium was normal, why do I need Gastroscopy?
Hi - my barium swallow was normal, so I am just wondering why the consultant said I could have a motility problem caused by the Raynaud's, and have to have the camera down? Got my appt now, I go on Thurday. Will choose sedation. Thanks for all your previous replies, much appreciated.

Where to go for a diagnosis?
At present I have a diagnosis of myofascial pain syndrome and fibromyalgia, but I believe that my symptoms fit much better with Hughes- should I be looking to see a haematologist, endocrinologist or something else entirely? Thanks

Ho hum. As my Onc said when I saw him last Monday, " Hello. You've been in the wars again, haven't you?"
Yep. That's me! Having got my strength more or less back after my life-threatening upper intestinal bleed last October I once again did a great family Christmas, with the same attitude I've had for the past few years i.e This'd better be good because it might be my last one. But as soon as the hoo-ha

Central nervous system vasculitus
hi - my 11 year old daughter has been diagnosed with csn are there any fellow sufferers here or other children and parents I can speak to. Were told it's rare and very rare in children. She recently had a brain biopsy, and is having cychlophosphermide treatment. It would be great to speak to others

Enlarged liver!
I was diagnosed with PV nearly 8 years ago and yesterday an ultrasound showed I have an enlarged liver. I'm still only on aspirin and venesections, so no meds to date and am not seeing my consultant till February. My spleen is only 11.1 cm. Can anyone tell me what this means? Thanks Mel

Can my symptoms be thyroid trouble?
Briefly I have felt unwell for 3 months now and really at the end of my tether. My symptoms are tight feeling around neck, increased mucus, pain on swallowing on the right side and absolute exhaustion and lack of energy. My doctor suspected thyroid and I had scan revealing small nodule on lower right

What if any treatment do you get?
I was diagnosed with FM 10 years ago by the rheumatologist after the diagnosis he referred me to pain therapy - a 12 week course on coping, given a heap of meds, he also referred to physio who wouldn't do anything because of my pain levels I saw him one more time after this and he sent on my way, leaving

How glorious the sun has just come up and the sky is turning a marvelous apricotey pinky colour,
that is the front of the house. At the back it is still solid grey and not as inviting. I am about to get ready and take OH out for breakfast after all it is the most important meal of the day it gives you energy (so they say) who are they? I must admitt it rarely works for me - but I do like
