The importance of water in our lives
Excess drinking of water could lead to rinsing out essential salts from the body leading to
water
retention
, swelling of the body etc.

Does the heat make you bloated?
I just wondered if anyone else found a connection with heat and
water
retention
? Prior to being diagnosed, I always noticed I bloated when I went on holiday to a hot country, in fact, I always had to take larger clothes as I bloated on the flight and then in the heat!

Newly diagnosed as hypothyroid, please tell me things get better?? :-(
I haven't felt well for a while, always cold, periods erratic, felt depressed and would often sit and cry wondering what was wrong with me, fuzzy head, weight gain,
water
retention
, aches and pains, dry skin - the list is endless. I was told it was the menopause (im 43) and put on Prozac.

Ever been (mis)diagnosed with aspergers autism?
I'm seeing a trainee neuropsychologist at Salford Royal and after having seen me a few times, subjecting me to a series of questionnaires and cognitive testing, has basically told me I'm aspergers autistic which I feel is especially due to my communicational and social difficulties. I was a normal person

Water retention doesnt seem to be easing at all
I have suffered alot with
water
retention
over the past 2-3 weeks. My whole stomach area is swollen and tight, upper legs are tight and full as well as ankle swelling. My dosage of furesomide has been doubled to 80mg twice a day but the water just doesn't seem to reduce.

joints giving way
I'm beginning to get
water
retention
and very swollen lower legs, also pain in my feet which I think probably relates to pre-diabetes although that hasn't been diagnosed.

The rise of my prescription from 75 to 100 /75 on alternate days did not cause my oedema
Also he said this is a long process - especially with my heart history and the
water
retention
was not in his opinion related to the rise in prescribed thyroxine as the dose was still lower than he would like.... any thoughts? Thanks as ever... blobby. (oops) Kate x

But, I do have to watch for increased
water
retention
, increased appetite, and swelling of feet, ankles and fingers. We have to pay for plusses in life, don't we? I do remember in the past, it has also increased ambition.

Why don't doctors listen?
A few years ago my mother was diagnosed as having chronic
water
retention
weight problems. When I was a toddler she was always slim, when she reached about forty her weight ballooned suddenly by two thirds of her normal weight.

Hi, I'm new to this site. I had a thyroidectomy in 1989 and have been on thyroxin between 200 mg reduced to 100 mg since that time.
I have put on 2 stone in weight, have chronic
water
retention
, which manifests itself as grossly swollen ankles legs and tummy, and am always tired, irritable and suffer stomach ache and back ache on a regular basis.
