Cortisol and stomach acid influencing calcium absorption
I've been wondering about the main reasons of my severe osteoporosis, and have recently come accross two possible contributions: 1) High levels of cortisol due to long term psychological stress, and 2) Low levels of stomach acid that has impaired the calcium absorption. I took the test with natron

Urgent help needed. Extremely severe RLS, cannot identify cause.
It's so goddamn severe that at this point, I either have the most severe case of RLS in medical history or it's something else. I rate it 9 on the severity scale. Did every possible test related to RLS (iron, vitamin D, etc) except for for transferrin saturation and serum iron because it wasn't available

Vit D spot test results via NHS Birmingham postal
I’ve been away but finally had my vitamin d tested ( thanks for info SlowDragon), a quick and efficient test I did at home. My overall D is lower than formerly, even though I have had sun and have been supplementing with oral spray Better Life + K2 X 2 sprays daily. I looked at the one recommended

Autoimmune thyroiditis with lump in throat as first symptom and normal thyroid levels - medication necessary?
I was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroiditis last month after a neck and thyroid ultrasound. I went to the doctor initially as have had a constant lump in my throat since June andbwas worried about throat cancer (I am 44 and haven't smoked since my early 20s but my dad had throat cancer). This hasn't

iron test results help please
I must admit that even after a few years, while I mostly understand my thyroid test results, my iron tests continue to confuse me - I just can’t seem to get my head around the significance of the different parts. So I wondered if someone who actually understands could please explain in really simple

B12 deficiency
Hi, my latest blood results are showing a low level of vitamin B12 and vitamin D. I have PV and take hydroxycarbomide 500 and 1000 on alternate days. Platelets are fine but htc is 46.8. HTC has been above 45 for the last 3 months and have had 2 venesections. Is the low levels of vitamins to be expected

Urgent help please: Getting an NHS GP to agree to blood tests for a private endocrinologist
Hello, I have a GP appointment in about an hour and it's to discuss having a blood test that has been ordered by a private endocrinologist. Night sweats etc.
I am tapering down from 30mg pred since April 2022 and I am now down to 3mg (4mg alternate days). I am finding I am having a lot of night sweats. Has anyone found else had this problem and if so how long it lasts for? I have to add that I have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis, and didn't know

Staying on 5mg indefinitely.....
Forgive me if I've brought this up before but after my rheumatologist advised me that there are little or no side effects when on 7.5mg prednisolone providing one takes the right precautions - Calcium, Vit D supplements and healthy eating habits e.g. low or no sugar, low or no carbs, etc. I thought I

Experiment to switch from Metavive to levothyroxine
On 23rd September 2022 I started to gradually introduce levothyroxine and reduce Metavive until I was on only levo to see if I could manage on this alone. [see post Raising TSH from 11 months ago]. I had hoped to see if I converted T4 to T3 adequately but had to do it myself as my GP wouldn't help with

Blood test results
Could you help me make sense of these? 18 months ago my GP lowered my levothyroxine dose on the basis of a suppressed TSH. I got all the symptoms back. I did not have a blood test between Jan 2022 and a fortnight ago. I waited 15 months for this hospital appointment. The consultant wrote to me with
