How do you know you have a chest infection?
Hi! Mild asthmatic here. The past two months I’ve had two colds, much worse than what I usually get. Now, after about 5 days of the normal routine (sore throat, runny nose, etc), I get so much mucus in my chest. My PEF dropped to all-time lows for many days in a row, both times (53% and 60%, respectively

Inhalers and reflux
Hello everyone. I take Fostair NEXThaler and the occasional puff of Ventolin for bronchiectasis and asthma. More recently I've started getting reflux, for which I've been given Omeprazole. I consider myself to be a fairly fit 50-something; I'm quite slim and work out regularly, so I was a little annoyed

Week 6 asthma attack just after I’d entered London Marathon ballot!
I’ve been flying through the runs and loving it when suddenly W6r3 and even by the end of my warm up I was wheezing!! I always dose up on my fostair before I go out and I always take my ventolin out with me but I just couldn’t run through it. So I walked instead. I was gutted. I had just entered the

Bronchiectasis after moving to Malta
I was diagnosed about 2 years ago but looking back, I had chest problems for about 2 years beforehand. Anyway after a 3 year struggle, finally managed to move permanently to Malta last September. Took loads of medicine with me and got a referral to chest consultant in January but had to wait until yesterday

Sleepy after some asthma drugs.
Some asthma drugs make me drowsy all day. I'm also quite sensitive to a lot of drugs. Until last summer, I'd always only had mild problems ...allergic asthma now and then due to household cleaners, air fresheners, pollen, etc. Suddenly last June I started getting problems, and used Ventolin, but was

Hashimotos and asthma treatments
Hi everyone, I've had Hashimoto's disease for over 7 years (more like 20+ years undiagnosed) and I've just been diagnosed with possible asthma. I've been prescribed a brown "preventer" inhaler and a ventolin inhaler. I'm on a 6 week trial of these to see if there's any improvement and I'm having

Ellipta cruise
Hi, I have been using Elipta. Cruise for approx 4 months and would say it doesnt do a thing for me, other than make my chest feel more tight when exercising. To test this theory, I normally take my dose in the morning and I don't have to use Ventolin except when I go skating, but over the past few weeks

Asthma help - is this asthma?
Ok so background - Diagnosed asthmatic as a young child. Took inhalers daily until 10ish? Seemed to be fine through teen years. Flared back up at uni (18-21) then seemed to settle again. Now at 27 I feel breathless maybe 5-6 times a month. But after reading other people's stories online I'm now questioning

Some advice regarding meds & pnemonia
Hello again. I had a few chest infections last year.. the dreaded Haemophilus influenzae. However my resp team decided to change my inhalers due to the amount of infections. I was on symbicort 400/12 and spiriva. They kept me on symbicort for a bit and introduced incruse eliptia in place of spiriva.

Running with asthma; and the kindness of strangers ☺🙏
I was a bit over-ambitious today. I'm still not really recovered from my bad cold, but I set off for a 5k pootle thinking I'd take it steadily, and dose up on Ventolin before I started. The run went well. Very well, in fact, so I carried on into town and ended up doing 6.5k at a reasonable pace. My

Can you be allergic to Levosalbutamol
I have was given the isomeric form of Ventolin to avoid the racing heart feeling. I have been on it (Levosalbutamol) since my asthma flared on April 3rd. This morning I saw wheal and flare bumps all over my upper arm, with itching. I reached for 50mg of Prednisone and swallowed it. But supposed my

Peakflow and colds (newbie question)
Hi! I’ve only very recently been diagnosed and started Spiromax (1 puff, twice day) 10 days ago. My Peakflow almost instantly improved from 320 to 370 and was still improving when I caught a cold on weekend. Now my peakflow is struggling to get to 300. I’m not struggling to breathe but just feel generally

COPD medicines
Every tooth in my head aches. Maybe I have outlived my teeth. Is there something in these puffers, usual stuff. Ventolin. Salbutamol. Braitus. Also my tongue has swollen and I have little ulcers around my lips. Something not quite right. It sneaks up on you
