'Heart' side-effects of medication - can they vary?
Not sure if I really know what I'm asking here, except not medical advice - if I really do feel weird I'll get help etc, but this doesn't seem like an urgent thing, more a 'has anyone else had this?' Basically I've been having an asthma flare-up the last few weeks. Coming out of it now and tapering

Doc has told me to stop Pulmucort after 20yrs as now have mild emphysema. Only have Ventolin to use. Is this ok.
I have been taking Pulmicort and Ventolin for asthma for over 20 yrs. Have recently been diagnosed with Mild Emphysema and doc has taken me off Pulmicort. I now only have Ventolin and no other medication. Is this ok ? Grateful for advice.

emotions of an asthma attack
I have noticed i follow a fairly consistent pattern of strange emotions, i wondered if this was just me, or if others were the same (or had their own unusual ones instead) I always find when my lungs first start to get cross beyond their usual 'couple of puffs of ventolin' type cross-ness i get annoyed

Should I go to the doctor?
Hi Thomas has been using his blue inhaler every day for over a week now to relieve the cough. We are using 4-6 puffs of ventolin each time and that seems to stop the coughing for a couple of hours. I am just wondering if I should be getting him checked over as we don't usually have to use the blue inhaler

New to forum, just saying hello!
Hi, although I've been asthmatic since I was a mere babe in arms my asthma has, for the last 18 years, been well controlled. However, in November I was diagnosed with pneumonia which has kicked off my asthma big time. I have been on steroids on and off since Nov and recently saw Consultant who has left

A really bad week
I posted on here last Friday that I was struggling and fed up - 4th exacerbation this year and feeling rubbish. I was struggling over the weekend and the pred didn't seem to be doing much so on Monday morning I decided I needed to see my GP as my pf was 190 (personal best 550). I phoned at 9am and

This is why it is important to speak up
A cautionary tale about speaking up. Today I had a pulmonary function test. The referral said specifically to test for before and after ventolin. But what nearly happened? After the tech finished the before ventolin tests, she tells me: you can go now.

15 month old - 'probably asthma' - advice please x
Hello everyone. Just a bit of background. My daughter will be 15 months next week. When she was 2/3/4 months old (Feb/March Apr time), over that period of time she had very noisy breathing. She was eventually given antibiotics and that cleared it up. She was symptom free until Oct/Nov last year.

Pain in chest
Hi there. I'm not asking for medical advice, I'm booked in with the gp tomorrow morning, but just thought if anyone can relate to this and offer advice before tomorrow. So things haven't been right with my asthma since Dec/jan with the first chest infection. I've since had another chest infection and

Yet another bad day!!!!
Hi all, I'm really getting so fed up with feeling ill all the time and constantly out of breath and wheezing. Tonight, I started coughing and over an hour later I was still coughing and wheezing and very breathless. I only have my ventolin to use when I'm bad, but tonight even that doesn't seem to

Feeling sad after visit with Doc - can you help?
Hi everyone, This morning I woke feeling rotten. My blood pressure which I take myself was very high & I was feeling nauseous & weak & sob. I took an aspirin with my usual tabs which includes one for BP - amlodopine & rang for an appointment with the doctor. This coincided with getting the results

Back with Laura
After abandoning Laura for my last three runs, with mixed degrees of success, I decided that maybe I'd better get back to business. Despite finding the music dire and Laura's chirpy slightly patronising voice sometimes intolerable, I decided that it's too easy to give in and "just walk for a minute
