Unstable peak flow

So on day 6 out of 20 days of various tapering steroids.

I’m taking regular ventolin thoughout the day and night. I keep on getting my peak flow up to 380/400 but then keeps on dropping 250/280 and can’t get it to stay up.

I’m due at the chest clinic on Thursday afternoon so trying to hold out for the steroids to kick in and going to chest clinic.

I’m just bouncing from course of steroids to the next cause.

Hi lotti 321 sorry things have been up and down for you : after a year of a similar experience, and lots of hospital admissions, I drew my doctors attention to the facts, saying there seemed to be a relationship to coming off steroids and my deteriorating asthma , but that I’d been on reducing doses for over a year ...... he eventually referred me to one of the specialist centres ( Leicester) , I’m am still having tests, as there are a number of underlying causes to my asthma , however, my cortisol blood level test, showed up to be very low ...... and am now on 8mg a day, ( cortisol levels still a bit lower than it should be, but my asthma has stabilised somewhat: still hoping that I may get off them permanently, at some point, but reductions after 15mg were 1mg a month , hoping that my adrenal gland would fire back up properly.

Just some food for thought for you, may not be that in your case , but best of luck when your at your appointment 😊

I having a similar problem with having 4 course of 5 days stopping and having to restart again a day later. This time its 5 days stopped then again the same had to start again. Its taken 6 days this time to get better. Day 7 and I much better with no Ventolin today. I think I better because I haven't been out and about with the pollen count high. I waiting for a telephone consultation from my doctor surgery in an hour.

I have spoken to that doctor about being referred to consultant but he wanted to wait and see what happen with my asthma. Well it has now happen again.

There are lots of triggers around at the moment for me one is pollen but other thing come into play.

I was fine til I went outside and then my asthma got annoyed. Just got told by doctor to stop the steroid this is day 7 hope I not going to crash out with stopping now.

I will be happy to get some more sleep tomorrow night. I am managing 6 hours at the moment better than before which was waking at 2 and 4am.
