Should I get off the steroids
Hi all. Have emphysema and asthma. Been told it's still mild only recently after spirometry. Then had a chat with the gp about inhalers as I was using ventolin several times a day. I had seen that some asthma sufferers were on seritide without it giving them the shakes as some of the other combi inhalers

Spirometry and diagnosis confused.
Hi. I am a little confused and could do use some thoughts from people in the know. A year or so ago I had a ct scan for a heart issue which showed emphysema. My GP wasn't too bothered and said its nothing to worry about. You have given up the smoking now so that's the main thing. I was also on asthma

Hospital discharge... what are your ‘requirements’?
So I’m back in hospital again but my Cons has made me realised that every hosp has different requirements regarding discharge (love her - she’s fab and really on the ball about asthma and all it’s quirks) . I have been admitted ‘regularly’ in 3 local hosps since 2015 when I became severe/brittle. (I’

Unsupportive family
Hi. My wife and my (adult) kids all seem to think asthma is no big deal and that there is nothing wrong with me. It didn't help when they heard a recent chest xray was fine and no further action was needed. I'm on max doses of Flutiform, have seebri and ventolin and I'm told severe/difficult to control

Late nights don't pay. (Humorous poem.)
I went to bed quite late last night, I don't know why that was. I didn't have so much to do Perhaps it was because The ointments and inhalers, The pills and tablets too, Meant that going up to bed Is so much work to do. And so I put it off and off Until it gets so late, I cannot keep my eyes open And

Quick question re: personal best PFM reading
Good morning! Just a quick (& hopefully easy!) question..... when you say your “personal best” in terms of peak flow readings, does that include after reliever pump? For example (& I am only new to asthma) my peak flow readings range from 280 to 350 over the last 4 weeks, but after ventolin I’ve read

Badly controlled asthma help?
Hi all, am new to this site but I was hoping someone could give me some advice/ relate to my experience? I never struggled with asthma at all as a child (despite it running in my family) and was only diagnosed in January 2017 following a severe chest infection. From January 2017- September(ish) 2018

Newly diagnosed, 42 year old confused!
Hi! First post so please be gentle! I am a 42 yr old female (5'2"), and was diagnosed with asthma last month after a bout of a nasty cold which wouldn't shift from my chest. I run a lot (30 miles a week plus) and seem to be particularly bad for a few days following a long run (in fact my diagnosis came

Just curious
Whenever I use either my Symbicort or Spiriva inhalers, I cough when I'm done. Not a prolonged cough but a few good coughs, then I'm done. Sometimes I have to blow my nose as well. Occasionally, I even cough before I've held my breath for the requisite 10 seconds, and spit everything out. My guess is

Asthma flare up
Hi, new to this - but help appreciated. I’ve had asthma since I was 7 (now 32), it’s always been well controlled and I’d never had an attack. Last week I started to become wheezy, saw asthma nurse, told had slight bronchitis and told to up preventer (Sirdupla) and given spacer. Within 2 days ended up

Stopped meds experiment
Without any reason, really, I stopped using Symbicort a few weeks ago and I could not tell any difference in my breathing. I continued to use Spiriva Respimat as prescribe and once in a while Ventolin. Then, 3 days ago I stopped using the Spiriva, too. And I feel OK. Believe me, I know COPD is a crazy

Costochondritis symptoms...
I've just been diagnosed with costochondritis. My chest is painful and sore after a 3 month (on and off) exacerbation. I find that movement triggers it and I sometimes I get a little breathless. I've been walking around today and felt like I had been winded in my chest. Does anyone else experience these
