Rise in flu deaths and patients admitted to hospital triggers government alert to GPs.
The good news is: “The initial evidence suggests the vaccine is a good match for the main strain of flu that is circulating.”

Not been running.... : (
So, did some regular running thoughtout November... dodging torrential rain here in Portugal... which made it somewhat sporadic. Then just as the weather gets better I get a chesty cold, so no running for the last 12 days, and guess what... I feel better, but it's pelting down out there (again)...

Cold weather/exercise advise please!
Hi everyone! I have eosinophilic asthma, not exercise induced asthma...BUT...this is my first winter exercising with asthma in the cold and with the dip in temperature I seem to have developed a cough which I think the cold air is triggering! One of those annoying coughs that comes on when you laugh

Does cold weather affect hypo?
The weather is colder and my FT4 has fallen below the reference range. Is hypothyroid adversely affected by cold weather? I'd be interested to find out from others if this is a thing.

Very little progress.
Just a footnote for now. The steroids, given to me to cure my pneumonia and pleurisy and keep my lupus in check have given me cushings disease and type 2 diabetes. Has anyone on the forum recovered from CD and, if so, how? Thank you.

The "asthma" saga continues
So I've written before that I'm still waiting for a diagnosis. Under asthma nurse for tests which are ongoing. During a months trial of brown inhaler I caught a cold, or so I thought. Turns out it got much worse and was told it's bacterial pneumonia. Now I'm in limbo. There's speculation my "asthma

First cold since starting methotrexate
Hi all. Just looking for tips and advice on how you get through the winter cold season. I’ve just been laid low with my first cold and cough since starting methotrexate and have spent the day in bed. In my previous life I would have gone into work but don’t want to risk it getting any worse or catching

Coughing whilst in early pregnancy
Hi ladies, I'm currently just under 9 weeks pregnant. I've got a cold at the moment and a really dry cough. I'm paranoid every time I cough as I'm aware that my stomach is moving with each cough and convinced it will harm the baby. Has anyone had a cough in early pregnancy and it's worked out ok still

W6d3 - Not pretty
So, a cold all week and an annoying cough. Last run last saturday. Out today, the 1st 25 min run. Wanted to stop but was determined to keep going, just kept going but slow. Stopped a few secs to cough and blow my nose! But, I did it. Oh and a tip: one tissue not enough on your first run after a cold.

Flu shot effects
Two days ago I got a flu shot because I have two young children and am frequently around my elderly grandparents. Most years I remember it being a non issue but this year I feel really knocked out. I'm run down, tired and achey and even a little nauseated today. I even felt cold this afternoon and laid

Any post FCR warriors struggling with the cold?
I finished FCR a year ago and in the past couple of months or so have begun to feel more like the old me and less tired. However, in this weather in the UK (8 degrees now, but was below freezing the last few days) I feel miserably cold. I am in bed with an electric blanket, 2 jumpers, 2 T shirts and

Try to cough it up Mom ...
So this is what I have been saying to Mom for the last four or five days now, "Try to cough harder Mom ... " I have done some reading on here, and trying to piece together anything I can regarding what may or may not be happening with Mom. It isn't constant, but I hear gurgling going on, and she does
