Hello Friends.

I have friend I have check my blood test my lymphocyte is 18 in the range of 20-40 % and my neutrophillis is 73 % range is 40- 80 % does this show it is a sign of HIV or other diseases.

please help me.

George, I can see from your other HU postings that you’re concerned having possibly had a more high risk sexual encounter with an unknown person. You’ve obviously had blood testing to have these results. Is the clinic following up on these results for you?

It’s impossible and unsafe to give medical advice on these support sites and you need to visit your doctor for further advice and testing. I would say however that with HIV the lymphocyte count usually drops not increases because typically HIV causes a depletion in lymphocyte counts not a rise...’HIV infection causes an acquired immunodeficiency, principally because of depletion of CD4 lymphocytes’.

Your lymphocyte count looks elevated over the maximum range of 4 but I don’t know if you’re talking about an absolute lymphocyte count or percentages which don’t help. However, all this could be caused by an infection (including a sexually acquired one) so you must see your own doctor or visit the sexual health clinic.

Try not to panic. There may be a temporary reason for this increase.

This site is for people with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia so is not suitable for your situation though I suspect you found yourself here by looking up elevated lymphocyte levels.

Hi George, You need to ask your doctor about this. I consider it highly unlikely, however, given how little your result is out of the normal range. Importantly, you need to look at your absolute counts, not percentages and a special test to check your T-lymphocytes.
