CHILD-PUGH SCORE
Scottish female age 64 years. I've recently been diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis Cirrhosis . I'd no idea. May have been caused after 40 years of taking Statins for high cholesterol but equally may be hereditary. My letter states my Child-Pugh score is 5 which I note is level A in some literature

Statin resistant?
After a couple of stents I was put on 80mg of Statins but it failed to lower my LDL or overall cholesterol levels Has anyone else had this and if so what did you do to lower it?

Feeling unwell 8 weeks after fracture
As I've posted before I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in April with a t score of -3.9. I have a compression fracture of the L2 vertebrae and 8 weeks ago I fractured my shoulder. I've got my sling off now and under physiotherapy care but I can't seem to feel 100% at all. It's as if I have no energy

Glimpses of understanding
This recent paper does begin to tackle the problems of therapy with T4 only. It is a start in that it does recognise patients who need combination therapy and that past trials were inadequate to study this. Plus the prospect of a more controlled T3
dosing regimen. It's behind a paywall. However I

Statins in the treatment of triple negative breast cancer
Hi there all. I have read ( Lancet) that the use of statins might be helpful for treating TNBC. Anybody using statins yet for this purpose prescribed by their consultant?? And how did you go about getting this prescribed. Thanks for answer. Background: TNBC stage 1 grade 3 , had lumpectomy and so far

Week 9 Run 3!!! 🏆🏁🏅🏆🏁🏅😊
Some weeks ago I sat with this forum, and decided that I would start posting my progress. After watching the Olympics, and spending time chasing a crawling baby around the room, muttering “I’m too old for this” I decided that I would start the Couch to 5k. I don’t know why. I’ve never been interested

High cholesterol in family question
In my mums side of the family high cholesterol seems to be an issue. It’s not been confirmed that it’s FE but my uncle at the age of 51, slim, healthy, non-smoker and had a clean diet, had a massive heart attack. He passed away a few years ago at 66 due to heart failure. He was told it was caused by

Want to mange this thing!
I had catheter ablation for supraventricular Tachycardia in March and second one in June. Was told 2nd ablation would fix me, as the Electrophysiologist now knew what to do/where to ablate and would use special mapping equipment and higher powered catheters. He ablated SVT site and found a Flutter site

Statins
Have a telephone appointment tomorrow with my surgery. I’m sure they will suggest status as my cholesterol isn’t good. I’m not over weight. I eat really sensibly and I exercise . Like to hear from anyone on statins that has no problems before I commit to taking them

Medication after HA & CABGx4
After my CABG in Nov 2020, I had a HA in June due to blockage of bypass. Artery that was bypassed and blocked is 55-75% stenosis. On top of the statins and asperine as a result of the CABG, I am now also on isosorbide-5-mononitrate and ranolazine, but not on clopidogrel or other blood thinners. My

No stent extra meds
After having a cardiology angiogram last I was told then by the cardiologist that I would need a stent but he would speak to colleagues. Then I got a letter to say I’m staying on my meds plus statin’s and aspirin. My finding were “Access was via the right radial artery. Results showed mild ascending

Making Good Choices can Pay Off.
I've just received my latest battery of routine blood test results...all 18 of them!!.... and was very happy to see that every single result was within normal parameters and with 'no further action required' for any of them. This felt like a huge achievement, particularly as I'd recently stopped taking
